Barclays pulling a fast one !!!

Until now I have managed to keep my frustration under control .
Now I am really mad !!!! .
Got a letter from Barclays upholding my claim for misold PPI on 31/8 , redress to the amount of £10684 , payment will be made with 40 working days , which on my calendar makes it October 26th at the latest . Rang this morning because I wanted to check something , to be told that a further letter was sent on 14th (which I have not received) September revising the figure down to £9700 and re-setting the 40 days to run from that date !!!! . So less money back and even longer to wait now !!!.
How can they do this when I have it in writing that the original ammount is £10684 to paid 40 days from 31-8 ???
Surely this not correct ?? this on top of the fact that although they say that they have sent out acceptance forms for my upheld Barclaycard claim over a week ago , I still have not recieved them !!
24 years I have been a Barclays customer , they really just don't care do they !!!

Have you asked Barclays to re-send a copy of the letter that you have not received?
This may give a reason for the reduction0 -

The letter gives no explaination at all , but does say that this new figure is still an estimate and could go down further and take even longer to pay out !! .
By doing this, Barclays can drag this out ad infinitum !!.
I have gone from being overjoyed a few weeks ago , to completely dismayed , I have no confidence at all that I will now recieve anything at all .Barclays seem to re-write the rule book to suit them !!0 -
I would ask for a full breakdown of the calculation-FOS guidence makes clear they should provide this anyway but most banks don't.
Plenty of spreadsheets on here and other forums so you can check their figures if you like maths (and typing)lol. For most of my PPI claims i have done the calcs already so I know what they SHOULD be offering, but could only do this where I had all the statements.
I would write back and demand a breaskdown of the calculations and a reply followed by payment within 28 days otherwise you will be forced to complain to the ombudsman.
Even if they pay you, if you disagree with the amount you can query it and proceed to the FOS for the extra.
Banks seem to be looking for any reason to delay peoples clams now, in a court if they admitted the loss the would have to pay up within 28 days so 40 is a blooming cheek.

NB as the other poster may be worth sendng the request and complaint to the ceo instead of writing.

sent this to Robert Diamond :-
Dear Mr Diamond ,
I am hoping you can help me with this ,
With reference to the above claim reference number (*******) , I received a letter dated 31/8/11 upholding the complaint in my favour and detailing a figure of £10684 to be re-paid to me as re-dress.
This was to be re-paid to me , according to the letter, within 40 working days . When checked on a calendar , this would make it no later than 26/10/11.
I was told on the telephone this morning , that a further letter (that I am yet to receive) , was sent to me on 14/09/11 , this letter reduced the re-dress to £9713 and effectively re-set the 40 days to run from 14/09/11.
This is not on , it is bad enough that the level of re-dress has been reduced , without explanation I might add , but to have to wait even longer for it to be re-paid is unacceptable .
The advisor also said that this is an estimate , so this figure could still reduce further and take even longer. By doing this , this could drag on ad-infinititum .
This is very poor in my opinion , please can you help with this.
I have been a customer with Barclays for 24 years , I have never had anything but praise for the bank and your team until now.
I fully accept that your team have a great many of these issues with PPI to deal with , and I am also sure that you and your team will do your utmost to help customers in an efficient manner.
With this in mind however, please can we work towards a speedy resolution to my points raised above.
I would very much appreciate it if you could help me obtain the full information on the resolution of my complaint, to include please confirmation that the money will be re-paid to me in the initial time frame given in the the letter dated 31/08/11 , or perhaps if you could provide a firm date when the money will be sent to me that would be excellent.
I would like to thank you in advance for your attention with this , could also please confirm receipt of this message .
Any help or information you can give me will be greatly appreciated.0 -

Looks fine to me..... I am playing the same waiting game. I have been a Barclays customer for 20 years, I don't think that seems to matter a jot to them!0
