Sixt car hire - damage?Edinburgh airport
Another sorry tale of Sixt car hire: Edinburgh airport Friday 10pm
I hired a car for 3 days last weekend and as far as I was aware all went very smoothly. At 6am Monday I posted the keys into their collection box. Next day I get an e-mail stating that the car has several damages -front bumper strip, bonnet 'dent' and damage to a tyre and 2 scratched alloy wheels. All news to me as when I returned it all looked perfect.
I should mention that on pick up I too signed an electronic pad without being allowed to read any terms and conditions and was made aware that I was liable for the 1st £1000 in the event of a claim. BUT I was not shown to the car nor did I see or sign a vehicle condition sheet which is usually standard practice.
The car was parked in dim lighting which made it impossible for me to inspect it carefully before driving off.
No photographs have been made available to me but I strongly deny these claims on the following basis:
1. The car was driven to my parents where it was parked in their driveway
2. The following evening it was driven to a friends house where they let me use their driveway for safety
3. Total milage 150miles over 3 days
4. During the entire weekend I didn't notice any damage to the car
Where do I stand? Are we Sixt customers being taken for a ride?
All advice most welcome asap -I have to state my case in writing to arrive 1/10/11
Thank you for reading -you have been warned!
