Ebay - item not received

Hi
I have just sold an item on ebay recently and sent to buyer first class royal mail.
Paid with Paypal.
They contacted me and havent received the item.
I had them contact their local royal mail depot to check it wasnt there. No luck.
Do i simply refund their money and chalk it up to experience?
