I know there are a few pound shops; 99p and poundland (any others you know of?), but some things are just cheaper in there. If there isn't a list already, I'd really like to make a list of the things I think that are cheaper, so save me from buying them at the supermarket and wasting more money!

For instance, they had 5 capri sun at the 99p shop, which were more expensive in Tesco. I think this is the cheapest place to buy them (pls correct me if I am wrong)

Do you know of anything in the pound shop that its cheapest to buy

Poundstretcher 12 cans of pepsi max for £2.89, the cheapest i've found, unless of course when some shopsme eg Asda do 6 for a £1 but i haven't seen that in a long time.

    Great idea by the way!

Pepsi max 12 for 2.89 is Poundstretcher in Acton, and Wembley i think. Definitely Acton as i bought some this morning :)

tolietries are usually alot cheaper in the pound shop, plus hotchocolate is alot cheaper i buy one of each a cadburys and a galaxy one, if i bought them from a supermarket i'd be looking at least £3.50p so thatss quite a saving IMO also loo roll is quite cheap i sometimes get the 9 rolls for a £1 its not the thickest but its certainly alot better than supermarkets value brands and sometimes they even have andrex so i get them too. lots of drinks for kids lunch boxes are good too like capri sun and fruit shoot though i don't buy these that often its nice to know you can get them cheaper. also in my pound shop they sell 3 tins of tuna for a quid and that is dirt cheap especially as we go through alot of tuna here lol oh and the other day i got a big bottle of olive oil from pound land was well chuffed with my purchase! also is a good place to buy things to bake with they do some silicone bakeware which is always nice to have!

so yeah you can get quite alot from there the stock changes very quickly though so you can never be 100% sure if they will have the same thing from one week to the next but i love shopping in them i always feel dead chuffed after i come out of there lol!

I've been buying mcoys (8packwhich is 6+2free ) for a £1.00. Cheaper even when on offer at morrisons. We get biscuits and cheddars cheaper (if you get the branded ones anyway). I usually get washing up liq and bleach (usually 2 for £1.00), loo rolls, cleansing wipes (2 for £1.00 do well with DD sensitive skin), olive oil (slightly cheaper than morrisons).

Be careful though, I have found some things a little cheaper in homebargains.

Thank you all for your contributions so far, I'll start making a list in my original post, as I think it's a great way for people to see what's cheaper and I can reference it when I need it :)

Please try to let me know which chain of pound/99p shop it is too, thank you :)

  • Oh also beware that sometimes Poundlands within a few minutes of each other are different prices.

    EG:

Poundland in a shopping centre in Hammersmith, 4 x cans of pepsi max : £1

Literally a 2 minute walk, on the street opposite the centre there is another, smaller but nicer Poundland and the cans are 3 for a pound. Was shocked when i got to the till and the member of staff told me that in the centre they are still 4 for a pound, so off i went..

Have updated list - GREAT suggestions so far. I do love me a pound shop! :D

If people could be more specific to brands and store that would be great.

Thank you, here's hoping we can fill this thread with BARGAINS!
