Inermittant Broadband Connection

Folks,

Hopefully someone can help.

I have my broadband through Tiscali (at the moment) and i'm getting a bit fedup.
Recently, in the last few weeks, I have been connecting to the service but i'm not able to connect to web pages etc. but i am able to recieve email, upload and download data and ping websites.

I have tried changing my DNS settings to another paired set and still no workie.

I have tried to fix this issue with the standard USB modem, a wireless router, and a wired router (different manufacturer than the wireless), but to no avail.

Can anyone out there please advise on anything I can do to tryand fix this.

I used to work for BT Broadband, and know how fustrated people get when the Broadband does not work. And all the center does is to get you to try the same stuff off the script again and again.

Any advise at all.

This only a small thing you could try, when we had broadband problems, we changed the filter on our phone line. It cost a few quid for a new one tho but it helped the connection. If you ask for a line test they would be able to tell you if this is a good idea or not.

i had the same problem i changed my filter for the wall box type ive had no problem since

I agree about the filter, but a couple of years ago I had a very poor broadband connection, and after months of moaning to BT, they eventually sent round a broadband engineer. He was very proffessional, located the problem, and arranged to get it sorted a couple of days later. Id insist on an engineer if the filter doesnt solve it.

What exactly happens ??

Have you tried reinstalling Tiscali software.
Have you tried another browser, like Firefox ??

Have you checked Tiscali Help & all your settings are correct ??

Did you change anything on machine at time problem started ??

I have not changed anything. I have done a format of my computer (issue was happening before the format, thought it would fix.
I have ried with IE and firefox,m both have the same problem.
All settings are correct because sometimes I cn connect for over 24 hours,and other times not even for 24 seconds.
