I have been lurking around the Menu Planning threads for a while now getting ideas :j, however probably like many people I was in the habit of staying in my "comfort" zone and cooking the same old thing, but now that I have adopted the OS method of shopping, looking for the bargains and picking up the odd reduced item my planning has changed
Because I live alone my freezer has become my most treasured kitchen appliance, but I also have to plan carefully for friends visiting, so this weeks menu is as follows:-
Sun = Chicken Chow Mein
Mon = Vegetable Frittata, salad
Tues = Chicken in Oyster sauce, fried rice
Wed = Cheese & Onion Quiche, salad
Thurs = Spag Bol
Fri = Table Picnic/Antipasti stuff = cold meats, pasta/rice salad, pickles/olives, green salad, crusty bread (accompanied with a glass or two of wine :beer: )
Sat - Sausage roll, mash, baked beans
Hopefully taking all this into account and the supplies I have I should hopefully achieve a totally "No Spend Week" :A and boy do I need one!!Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £42.190 -

Hi all
Ages since i've posted as well and truly fell off the wagon!! I however have had a letter of impending redundancy due to land 20th dec unless someone senior "volunteers to go" instead..can't see that happening! Thought I had better get my bum in gear using up the contents of freezer and cupboard and am vowing not to spend anything until it's used up!! My week is as follows:
Mon: Vegetable Stirfry and Noodles
Tue: Shepherds Pie (lovingly prepared by me today using up mince from freezer bulked out with veg)
Wed: Garlic and herb chicken drumsticks, corn on the cob and jacket spud
Thu: Beef stew from freezer (leftover from huuuuge pot made the other week..glad all my os ways didn't leave me)
Fri: Fish and low fat chips & peas
Sat: Homemade chicken curry and naan
Sun: Stuffed tenderloin (donated tenderloin from when parents did shopping bless em!!)
Now going to bed ready for work in the morning, any tips for a diet menu would be good- am exerting portion control atm but need help!! had a little bereavement today as our cat got knocked over and passed away, still think i'm going to find him waiting for breakfastMoneysaving yes, good for the psyche no
