Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I'm off work for the next week so the following is subject to change at any time: ;)

    Friday - out visiting family
Saturday - possibly ditto, or something from the freezer
Sunday - beef, mushroom and stout stew (made with a bottle of stout I won at a pub quiz months ago and have been trying to find a use for)
    Monday to Thursday -
my dad's visiting one night so we'll probably go out for an un-OS but yummy curry :D
    spinach and ricotta calzone
split pea and ham soup (thanks for the idea, medsdemon :T)
    one more TBC

Hmm - some revision needed there, I feel! :o;)
Back after a very long break!

  • hi all, i'm planning from tomorrow and aiming for an empty fridge on friday. (didn't happen this week as i needed to shop for pudding ingredients and made justifications for buying stuff to have in fridge!

breakfasts are cereal and milk, toast, toasted sandwiches, eggs.

packed lunches monday to friday : leftovers from night before, ham sandwiches, banana, yogurt, carrot and cucumber sticks, fairy cakes and cereal bars from freezer.

saturday lunch: baggettes, with salad and cheese tea: out to friends

sunday lunch: bacon and eggs.potato waffles tea:shepherdless pie (cfr)

monday : pasta and cheese sauce

tuesday: chicken myers pie and veg

    wednesday:jacket potatoe and chilli

thursday: toad in the hole and veg

friday: unplanned - create from fridge or treat selves to takeaway if empty

    nov grocery challenge, £.227.69/300, 9/25 nsd: , 7 Cmo, 10 egm.
Me, 10 yo dd, and the dog. all food and drinks, in and out, plus household shopping.
  • Starting to get back into planning again - though this week I've been freezer-rummaging and trying to use up all the odd portions of leftovers!
Saturday - may be going out to eat though this needs confirming
    Sunday - Roast Lamb
Monday - Thai green chicken curry - Jamie O recipe
Tuesday - Slow Cooked Spanish Beef - not made before - recipe from allrecipes.com
Wednesday - Jamie Oliver's 30 min Chicken pie
Thursday - freezer-rummage! Think I may be out with friends but can't remember if we're eating or just meeting for a drink!
Friday - Bangers and mash, veg, onion gravy
Saturday - Me and hubby out - freezer-rummage for the kids!
  • I have been lurking around the Menu Planning threads for a while now getting ideas :j, however probably like many people I was in the habit of staying in my "comfort" zone and cooking the same old thing, but now that I have adopted the OS method of shopping, looking for the bargains and picking up the odd reduced item my planning has changed

Because I live alone my freezer has become my most treasured kitchen appliance, but I also have to plan carefully for friends visiting, so this weeks menu is as follows:-

    Sun = Chicken Chow Mein
    Mon = Vegetable Frittata, salad
Tues = Chicken in Oyster sauce, fried rice
Wed = Cheese & Onion Quiche, salad
    Thurs = Spag Bol
Fri = Table Picnic/Antipasti stuff = cold meats, pasta/rice salad, pickles/olives, green salad, crusty bread (accompanied with a glass or two of wine  )
Sat - Sausage roll, mash, baked beans

Hopefully taking all this into account and the supplies I have I should hopefully achieve a totally "No Spend Week" :A and boy do I need one!!
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Grocery spends = £119.54
    Aug - Grocery spends = £42.19

    Part of the Furniture
I don't normally post on here but I have been meal planning for over a year now. It save us so much and really cuts down the waste.

Plan for the week is -

Monday - HM Chicken + mushroom in tom sauce with pasta (LO roast chicken from today)
Tuesday - HM Chilli con carne (trying a new recipe as DS didn't like the last one)
Wednesday - HM Bacon and mushroom pasta (in white cheesy sauce, lots of mushrooms to use up this week!!)
Thursday - Cod loin - need to decide on HM sauce, maybe parsley
Friday - HM Shepherds pie from freezer
Saturday - HM Parmeasan Breaded Turkey Escalopes with new pots and veggies
Sunday - Roast of some sort. Depends what meat I find while shopping tomorrow.

Breakfast for us are porridge / cereal / toasts / yoghurts / fruit

Lunches - sarnies / pitta pockets / wraps and fruit/yoghurt maybe a handful of crisps for a treat!

  • Hi all :) Ages since i've posted as well and truly fell off the wagon!! I however have had a letter of impending redundancy due to land 20th dec unless someone senior "volunteers to go" instead..can't see that happening! Thought I had better get my bum in gear using up the contents of freezer and cupboard and am vowing not to spend anything until it's used up!! My week is as follows:
    Mon: Vegetable Stirfry and Noodles
Tue: Shepherds Pie (lovingly prepared by me today using up mince from freezer bulked out with veg)
Wed: Garlic and herb chicken drumsticks, corn on the cob and jacket spud
Thu: Beef stew from freezer (leftover from huuuuge pot made the other week..glad all my os ways didn't leave me)
Fri: Fish and low fat chips & peas
Sat: Homemade chicken curry and naan
Sun: Stuffed tenderloin (donated tenderloin from when parents did shopping bless em!!)
Now going to bed ready for work in the morning, any tips for a diet menu would be good- am exerting portion control atm but need help!! had a little bereavement today as our cat got knocked over and passed away, still think i'm going to find him waiting for breakfast :( Moneysaving yes, good for the psyche no :(
