Moving mobile supplier
HI All,
I am presently with T-Mobile but my contract expires on 25th Sept. I am considering moving nd wondered whether anyone had any advice? I am thinking on going to Vodafone as we live in a valley and they seem to be the best company regards signal where we live. I am on a good tariff which was created for m when I was going to leave a few years ago. I now pay £12 a month using my own phone which isn't fancy, and get 100mins call and 100 txts. I will call Vodafone to ask about their tariffs but thought I'd ask whether anyone had advice on how to transfer my number, and on the Vodafone packages...? It would be a business contract... you may have guessed I don't use the calls package too much, but use txts every now and then....

That's not a good tariff. 100 minutes and 100 texts can be obtained for much less now. I'd switch.... but it's up to you. I'm on 25 minutes 50 texts for £1 per month yes one pound. You could probably get PAYG plans for about £5 per month on that usage. Previously my O2 SIM came with 100 free minutes and messaging units with a £10 top up and you could spend the £10 the next month on a bolt on which gave you the same amount.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

You should contact T Mobile and request a PAC code. This enables you to transfer your current number to Vodaphone. They should typically give this to you instantly but will take the opportunity to try and convince you to stay with them - that's up to you.
A PAC lasts for 30 days and once you are up and running with Vodaphone you should contact their customer services (or possibly do it online) and give them the code. It usually takes 1 to 2 working days for the number to become effective and you will be without a service for a few hours.
For information, Talk Mobile have some good deals and they also use the Vodaphone network (note - they are different from T Mobile).

You may also want to look at giffgaff (who use the O2 network). https://www.giffgaff.com
Either way, £12 / month for 100 mins/100 texts is very poor value nowadays
Finally, make sure your phone is unlocked in order that it will work with other networks.0 -
If you are not using up most of your 100 mins and 100 texts another way to get the Vodafone signal is to consider icardmobile.
A no-frills pay as you go option - 3p per minute for landlines, 6p per minute for mobile numbers, and 5p per text message. You don't pay for anything you don't use.
You'll need an unlocked phone. SIM card is free.

Just checked with TalkMobile and they don't do business accounts unfortunately....0

What is an advantage of a business account?0

I have the billing set up through our business, not sure if I could have an account in my own name and have it billed through the company.0

i would assume that you have a decent amount of discounts available, more than likely you would be offered 100mins,unlim sms or 300mins, unlim sms with a phone as well for a fiver a month if you go through to cancellations. Give the advisor a chance and you will save a stack of money0

They have matched Vodaphone, but will be calling me back soon as I wanted to think about it... will ask if they can tailor my present package to allow me some data inclusion as I only have 100mins and 100txt presently.0

They offered 500mins, 250txt, 500MB with Blackberry Curve 9300 for 15.50/month but as i said, waiting for them to call back0

Just had my call, it seems it would be more expensive to add to my present contract, any changes would incur £10 charge. So I got my PAC and may move. Although earlier I was offered 500mins, 250txt 500MB data on Blackberry Curve for £15.50/mo.
My present tariff is £10.20/mo for 100min, 100txt, of which I use about 100 or more txt and under 5 mins call time per month. I asked if they could add extra txt to my present tariff and was told it's not possible, it would cost me an additional £10 to do anything like that.0
