I am not sure what good contacting the head office would achieve, could you call customer services and get them to resend the confirmation?
well anything as important as I do not trust my own computer and will always print a hard copy and send a copy to my yahoo email account, so i have a hard copy, a copy in windows mail and a copy in my yahoo email account. very difficult then to lose all 3 copies0 -
My bank tell me that it went to the tour op that I booked with, and the entry on my bank statement is the web address for the tour op that I booked with.
I book our family holiday every year with the same company, on the same website. They've taken the money from my account which surely they wouldn't do unless I'd booked?? I was a travel agent for several years and do most of my shopping online. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that I'm experienced in this kind of thing! The fact remains they've taken the money - £250 - from my account - why would they do that when I hadn't booked it?
I realise I should have printed the booking reference - I am really kicking myself now, but have never had a problem like that before, something to do with faulty .pst files or something!0 -
any transaction reference on the payment which may relate to a booking/reservation number?0

Tried that too . . . just a phone number which does tally up with the tour operator. I intend to phone it when I get home.0

A rather late update! I eventually managed to find the member of staff with the shared brain cell for the day who found the booking and all sorted, holiday with free child place all as it should be. We got free seats together for the trouble (!) which is a bit naff, but at least we got our holiday to Sharm. Highly recommended by the way.
Thanks to the people who did offer help rather than try to insinuate something!!0 -

Why the insult ? Have you got the other bit ? after all you deleted all emails of the booking0 -

Because the company demonstrated their incompetence?
Just because the company were useless at finding the booking doesn't mean the OP wasn't stupid - which they point out in the first post.0 -
By the way just because you recreate a new outlook profile you should still be able to access the old one.
Go into the control panel and click on mail. Then click on profiles and you should see the current profile you are using and the old profile, just select to load that profile. Just incase there were any other mails you needed0 -

I don't think the company demonstrated incompetence; they weren't able to locate a booking in a highly unusual situation. Perhaps it needed someone with knowledge of a forensic method to retrieve it if a straightforward search failed?
Based on what is in this thread there is nothing to suggest incompetence on anyone's part.0 -
Of course the company was originally incompetent - they kept saying that there was no booking and that they had never received the money!
What probably happened is the first person you spoke to couldn't find your booking and just kept trying to argue that it didn't exist. Given they had taken the money, they must have had some form of booking so all they had to do is keep looking or ask another staff member with greater knowlege of the system who might be able to find it.
Glad you were eventually able to speak to someone sensible!0
