Hi,
managed to borrow router today, Siemens gigaset SE 587,registered with Tiscali.
Have been to router page and changed SSID.
Still wont connect.
Looks like its off to ebay for second hand wanadoo/orange box.
Will report back once arrived.
you may have changed the SSID, but that's only for the wifi. You need to enter your Orange ISP logon details (username and password) into the router's setup page for it to connect to your ISP......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
OP, I had exactly the same problem in August. Internet had been working fine then one day slowed down to very slow. Turned out that a filter on one of our phones had been removed. Have you tried unplugging everything from every phone point, apart from the Livebox?
However, my internet has suddenly gone very slow again - 400kbps when line is rated at 4mbps. And I've disconnected everythig else and changed the filter via which the Livebox is connected. Have also run a BT line test and that says the line is perfectly OK.
Haven't tried a Livebox factory reset - will try that tomorrow.
But I wondered if you have solved your problem and if so, how?0 -
Good old orange "technical support". I ended up cancelling that contract after noting down every inconsistency and downright lie I recieved over various phone calls to them. Closing down cases despite the issues not being fixed to hit their targets. Denying the existence of second line support, despite having spoken to them previously. Suggesting the BT line was faulty and it was down to BT to fix, despite the OH working for BT Global Services at the time and me having the exact results of a perfectly working line test in front of me. Second line had already confirmed that being at the limits of the exchange the 8mb package they were trying to push down a phone line only capable of handling 2mb was the problem. Worked fine for two weeks when he switched it off, then the systems automatically switched it back on again. Next phone call, please skip your troubleshooting sheets, switch off the 8mb please, read your notes. "OK, that won't be the problem, we shall arrange a line test....."
When I was told I would have to pay the cancellation fees for immediatly ditching them I read all this back to them. I was put on hold for a minute before a member of the redemption team came on the line. Short conversation, I told her I was leaving and not paying a disconnection fee for a service I wasn't adequately recieving anyway. Only response was "OK". Guess she realised they didn't have a leg to stand on.
Rant over.
OP, if your livebox reset doesn't work, and you have troubleshooted everything at your end, make sure you write notes on every conversation you have with their support, just in case.
Ironically nothing but praise for their mobile arm, always had great service and always been offered cheaper upgrades and tarrifs than advertised on their website without even asking for them.0 -

The only objective the Indian Orange Broadband Technical Support guys have is to keep you on the phone, @ £6 an hour, for as long as possible... "can you hold for 3 minutes please while I check your account?" etc etc etc. Totally useless.... my internet has suddenly gone very slow again - 400kbps when line is rated at 4mbps. And I've disconnected everythig else and changed the filter via which the Livebox is connected. Have also run a BT line test and that says the line is perfectly OK.

Was about to do the factory reset but just did a speed test first and, after a week of going at 400kbps, today it's running at 1600kbps and I've changed nothing. I can only assume this is because Orange's server is feeling better this morning.
