Nokia 2330 on Orange - have been told it can't be unlocked!

My mum has a Noka 2330 on Orange and wants to switch.

I bought a code over the internet yesterday from a site promising immediate delivery of the code. 24 hours later and they've sent an email saying there is no unlock code for that phone. I've tried the free sites too mentioned on here to no avail. Are they right?

Very occasionally a handset can't be unlocked by code. However, I think its more likely that you have fallen victim to one of the scam unlocking websites.

You can buy an official unlock code from Orange or take the handset to an unlocking shop (the latter will void the warranty)

As far as I know, the 2330 is from a series that doesn't have a free unlock generator.

[STRIKE]Well, the Sticky: Free Unlock codes for Nokia Phones 8 says that it can be unlocked for free.

http://giffgaff.com/unlock/Nokia-2300-phone says that Orange do this for £20.[/STRIKE]

My apologies. I was looking for 2300.
2330 is listed neither at giffgaff nor in the sticky.

I previously had a Nokia 2330 on Orange at the beginning of my 36-month Orange contract in August 2009.

I failed to find any unlock codes and my local market stall tried (and failed) to unlock via flashing cable.

I successfully used an ebay mail order service for about £10 I think. Phone was returned very promptly.
I successfully sold it as an unlocked phone on ebay.

OK...thanks Stuart! I feel like I may have been duped already by one online place but I paid by paypal so have lodged a dispute.

Please do you remember which seller you used on ebay? I don't want to get duped again! Thanks !

Thank you! Ideally I don't want to send it away - it's mum's phone and she doesn't want to be without it!

Hi, www.fonefunshop.co.uk have always been able to find codes for me but it usually costs around £25 and considering that the 2330 can be bought sim free for about £40 it doesn't really make economic sense.
