British Airways Executive Club

I am traveling regularly to Milan from Birmingham to Milan Malpensa with BA Connect. Can anybody advise a way to gain membership to British Airways Executive Club, and or get to the gold tier?
Also any advice or loopholes that will make my time in the air and or at the airport more comfortable

I believe the only way you'll get sto silver/gold is if you pay for full fair/flexible tickets to get the tier points.
It's a while since I flew on that flight, is it RJ100's or RJ145's now?
The only real tips are to bag the exits rows (leg room)by checking in online exactly 24 hours in advance, and if there are two of you flying on a RJ100 bag the window and an isle andyou'll often get the centre seat free.
Oh, and of course sit in the front few rows for the quietest (especially in the RJ145) and smoothest ride.
At least the Eurohub is quite, but not much in the way of shopping/entertainment.0 -
I believe its's the RJ 145 now!0

First off, Toolman, get yourself signed up to the Executive Club. This gets you very little initially, but opens an account to which you can have your points awarded too. Each time you make a booking/fly with BA, you present the card and get your membership number - frequent flyer number - added to the booking (in the same way you do with your Tescos card). If you keep the ticket stubs (your boarding card stub) in the meantime, you may well be able to get those flights credited to your account retrospectively too (though not guaranteed).
As for getting a silver/gold status - that's dependant on how many 'qualifying' flights you do. It's not something you can buy, it's something you earn, so the quicker you get an account up and running, the better. (Please be advised that Executive Club Tier Points are not BA Miles - though they can both be awarded on a singular flight, only the Tier Points get you the lounge access and stuff....)
Check this out and see if it's any good for you.

One thing to mention (as you say you're coming from Milan, I'm not sure where you're based) is that there are different rules depending on your residency.
Unitedflyers reference to Flyertalk.com (above) is very relelvant, and I'm sure the forum for BA Exec Club will help you figure it all out.0 -
You can only register with BAEC if you are flying on a qualifying flight, so if you are on el cheapo restricted econ fares then you can't (however there are a few ways round it).
BTW are you paying for your own flights? Are they directly through BA? If you are, you may want to consider signing up for a BA Amex card to get extra miles.
Have a look at the ultimate sticky on BAEC at flyertalk, very useful:

You can get membership by taking out the BA amex card. This gives you membership straight away. We had to do this as all the flight being taken were not classed as full fare and would not allow membership.0

It use to hop from Edinburgh to Birmigham and then to Milan, and they changed it last year. It still operated by BA Connect at the moment, but there are a lot of unknowns about the BE takeover and the operations out of the Eurohub.
The RJ145 is interesting if you get one of the "budding figter pilots" flying. I can only assume they enjoy flying this model. Personally I like to fly in it, particularly on the "one side" and far forward. Leg room is good. Can feel a little claustrophobic due to the reduced headroom.0 -
Until you get your Silver Card from BA, these people are good for airport lounges.
