Cancelling Talk Mobile contract early

Both me and my wife have are 4months into a £20 a month 12month contract with Talk Mobile using the samsung galaxy s2. The mobile internet has been very poor and I have frequently called Talk Mobiles customer service team. Ten days ago I phoned and stated that I was not getting the service I paid for and wished to cancel. I was told that within 5business days they would assess my mobile internet service and get back to me- this never occured. I phoned on friday and told them that if I had not heard anything by Monday I wished to cancel - again no reply. Phoned yesterday and told that i would have to pay £160 to cancel both contracts. I thought that VAT would not be applicable. anyone get any ideas what to do?

Has the internet been poor because of reception issues or data throughput whilst holding a good connection?

Your recourse depends mostly on where the service appears to be falling short.

Talk Mobile use the Vodaphone network. It may be worth checking the Vodaphone site to see what coverage they provide in your area as a starting point.

Did Talk Mobile assess your requirements prior to you purchasing the contracts (including data) or did you simply buy them because it seemed like a good deal?

If the latter then you may find it more difficult to argue your situation.
  • My brother-in-law has the same phone on Vodafone and for some reason gets a much better date connection when the phones are used together at the same time. I have told this to talkmobile several times.
  • The reception in my house is not an issue as i use wifi. The problem has been poor reception at my placeof work where others with vodafone get a good signal. Also was not getting any date connection at several places in glasgow city centre last weekend. i have advised talkmobile that there is little point in having this phone with such a poor data connection.
  • hi guys can anybody help me,

i bought a samsung galaxy ace on a talkmobile contract and had issues ever since,
i had no 3g signal and now thats fixed they changed the phone and sim card.
i also have to turn my phone on and off again every day to make\ receive txts, they said this was due to the 3g problem above and should work, it did for a while and now the txts are not sending or receving again even though i have good signal and 3g. i have phoned many time to customer services without much luck and as they shut at silly times and due to work i can only phone at wk ends, would ui have grounds to cancel as im not getting a service im paying for???
    please help
