Help with moving costs?

  • Oh, and put down EVERYTHING - moving expenses, curtains, net curtains, curtain poles, carpets, a bed, cooker & connection, kitchen table and chair, sofa/armchair that fits through the door, washing machine, installation, bucket, mop, bathroom cabinet, bins, lamps - EVERYTHING you need as a result of having to move. Not to say that you will receive a grant for it all, but if you don't put it down, they can't even consider it.

They're invariably reasonable people dealing with the grants - I think they deal with so many people that aren't really in need, when they receive a genuine claim, they do what they can to help.

Grab me by PM or on FB if you want any help with completing the form.

  • Thank you, love. Have done forms and returned them to JC. TBH they have changed the criteria and IB is no longer a qualifying benefit for any of these grants/loans. Unless you have already been migrated to ESA, you qualify for no help. I think it is unconscionable that they can disqualify a whole raft of people for not being on ESA yet when they are the ones in control of when you are migrated.
If this does turn out to be the case and there are no exceptions, I will not hesitate to involve my MP. Looks like I may have another fight on my hands *sigh*, but fingers crossed.

just to let you know you have to have started your tenancy agreement and say that you have moved (this might only be the kettle at first!) in order to be considered moved in to the new property, then you can have 4 weeks cross over, your new address has to be the new property from the start of the tenancy
Double or triple check this: my understanding was that you had to be sleeping in the new property! Just moving the kettle in wouldn't count if I'm right!

They absolutely confirmed to me that you have to be living there.
Some bits of good news; I can have 3 days extra to clear and clean old property and ESA is sorted. :j Stand more chance of the CCG now.

Only bad news (and that's subjective) is the day has come to go onto Morphine permanently. However, if I can pass the move in a haze of pain relief, that will suit me fine! :D
Needless to say, I won't be sitting in the driving seat of a car until I know positively how it affects me and that I am safe to do so.
