Replacement for 3GS - opinions

I need a handset I can lock to 3G. Virgin routes calls via 2G and well T-Mobile built its 3G network for a very valid reason given it inherited the Mercury/121 2G network.

I've tried a HTC Wildfire but find it restrictive in Android, even hacked the power is not available, I'd like about the screen size of iphone with a great screen but not the size of a Samsung Galaxy I/II or the current HTC's which dig into my legs.

Any advice welcome
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

If you lock to 3G you will end up with a very unreliable connection - texts, data backhaul and other services which you don;t know the handset is using will fail, and lessen the mobile experience. Even if you have a 3G signal networks can (and do) shift traffic to 2G when there are capacity issues.

Personally, I regularly lock to 3G and never have any problems like that.
