Updates not configuring!!!

Hi keep getting notice of windows updates. Do the updates but then get a message saying "Updates not configured correctly. Reverting changes" So then I am back to square one cos the updates haven't actually been done. Apart from the annoying factor that I have to try and re-do them it takes about 3/4 of an hour to finish the revert changes part, and also I am going all through that for nothing. Please advice.

I have just tried the system restore as I cannot find my disc. It is now not letting me install the updates because it says I must be logged in as the administrator profile (which I am), so if anything the problem has gone worse, but thanks for your helpIf practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................

Again assuming win7, the admin account is disabled/hidden by default.

Sorry, is this in response to my question as to 'what is....'?
Not yet after finding out how to do it, really want to know what it is first please?
Never heard the term but then I'm not a programmer:o0 -
Link interesting however but still don't understand the terminology of 'elevated.....'. Thanks0

You can get free support from Microsoft for Windows Update problems (and virus and malware) here:
http://supportservices.microsoft.com/support/services
It does require you allowing a techie to connect to your machine and take control, but they sorted out a problem I had with an update failing to install.Charlie0 -

Thanks.
So I say again.... What EXACTLY is an 'elevated user command'?
I don't have a need for a techie to 'remote in'; I don't have a problrem on my computer; I'm not trying to 'do' anything, I was just asking if anyone can explain the MEANING of the technical jargon in one of the links provided.0
