Try Google pages. Very very simple to use, all done on the web so no need to download or install software.
It produces very impressive results, and your pages can then be shared/published on the Internet.Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0 -
Ive already got the site for 2 years. It has some Webbuilder software which is terrible. I can't see a way to upload my own page. I take it I would need CuteFtp to do this? and are there certain hosts which don't allow you to upload your own ie. you HAVE to use their software?0

will 2nd or 3rd - notepad
If you learn the code yourself you'll create better pages and when something goes wrong be able to find the problem far far easier.0 -

Actually, it's better to use a more advanced text editor with syntax highlighting, this makes things easier to read. You can also get dedicated editors for writing html with many more useful features0 -
To the notepad users - why? There's plenty of better coding/HTML editors that are free.
Personally I use a combo of crimson editor and Paintshop Pro (not free). Admitadly i also use Dreamweaver for it's template system, but there's nothing special that can be done there that can't be done in a text editor.0 -
I quite like the coffee cup software:

However I also use dreamweaver and notepad depending on what I'm doing.Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -

Paul see if your hosting package included PHP and MySQL. Does it have CPanel and Fanatsico http://cpanelguide.net/fantastico.php- in which case you will be able to use a free CMS solution, a free template and your own content - if your host plan does not have above - not worth explaining more, see if your host has support forums etc.
HTHRich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.0 -
I use NVU. It is nice and easy to use.
I know some people think you should hand code HTML but it is a lot of hastle saving notepad opening IE to view. The beauty with something like NVU is you can see what you are doing without needing to go through all that, but you can tweak the code if you want.
Plus you dont need a HTML book to look up tags and ordering of HTML.:beer:0 -
HTML is one of these things, you learn it, do a few pages, dont use it for ages and then when you want to use it you have forgotten it--that is true for most people who not webdesign professionally.
Most people first learn to web design in something like Dreamweaver these days as you can do design view and see the code and mess with code without being frightened off that it is programming.:beer:0 -
Turns out the reason I can't upload via FTP is its not included in the package.
Currently looking around for an FTP and webspace host for the site.
Currently messing around with NVU and Dreamweaver so thanks for all the suggestions!0
