EasyJet name change cost??

Hi

We have booked EasyJet flights for a trip to Sharm, and I mistakenly booked the flights in my married name although my passport is still in my maiden name - checking on the EasyJet website, I will be charged £170 for this to be amended!!

Does anyone know if I turn up with my marriage certificate to the airport, this will be taken into consideration?

I considered just having my passport changed to my married name before my flight but have booked flights from SHarm to Cairo by Egypt Air in my maiden name (which matches my passport)!

Stressing out and really dont want to pay £170 just to change my surname!

Have emailed EasyJet days ago no reply and their telephone number doesnt work!

TIA

Two seconds on their website leads me here - http://easyjet.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4060/~/change-booking-details
If your married name on your passport or ID card is different to your maiden name on the booking, please call our Customer Service Team no later than 48 hours before the flight departure time and we will change the maiden name on your booking to the married name on your passport/ID card (or vice versa) free of charge. This can also be done for children’s surnames which have changed due to marriage or adoption.

  • But the OP's situation is the other way around! So I'm not certain that Easyjet's exception (which, of course, is meant for people who book a flight, then get married, not people who simply can't remember which name they are using  ) will apply.

Or in other words "vice versa"

LOL. The first half of their sentence says it only relates to changes to a married name as a result of marriage; the second half says "vice versa". Clear as mud!

It's pretty clear to me. Not sure why you are making an issue of a clear answer from EasyJet.

er, not relevant as the passport shows the maiden name

er, not relevant either as the booking shows the married name.

    Clear enough now?

But it says "or vice versa" :-

If your married name on your passport or ID card is different to your maiden name on the booking, please call our Customer Service Team no later than 48 hours before the flight departure time and we will change the maiden name on your booking to the married name on your passport/ID card (or vice versa) free of charge. This can also be done for children’s surnames which have changed due to marriage or adoption.

That must mean that they "will change the married name on your booking to the maiden name on your passport/ID card" as well. The "vice versa" bit can't mean anything else - it can't mean that they will change the name on your passport to match your booking as only the IPS would be able to do that!

The "vice versa" wording is in the wrong place in their paragraph. It should be in the first half, if it means what you think it means (and what I agree it probably means).

If your [STRIKE]married [/STRIKE]name on your passport or ID card is different to your [STRIKE]maiden [/STRIKE]name on the booking due to a change of surname resulting from marriage, civil partnership, separation or divorce, please call our Customer Service Team no later than 48 hours before the flight departure time and we will amend the [strike]maiden[/strike] name on your booking to match the [strike]married[/strike] name on your passport/ID card [STRIKE](or vice versa)[/STRIKE] free of charge. This can also be done for children’s surnames which have changed due to marriage or adoption.

    Where's my proof-reading fee, Easyjet? ;)
