  • It's up to the store when they want to sell it to you, but they cannot sell it before the embargoed time.

  • I think it will depend on how big the "release" is...... if your talking about the iPhone 5 or next Harry Potter book then you'll probably find its at midnight.

If it is the latest Touch of Frost series onto DVD then its probably whenever they get to it in the store room and bother to put it out.

    Are you talking about F1?

Some Tescos deem it big enough to release it at midnight. My local doesn't - we went last year and although they were open, they didn't put the games out until morning. Mine doesn't have a big games section, though, just one aisle.

You'll have to ask the store specifically about the game you want, and the specific store you want - it won't be a generic policy.

    ask the store in advance
staffing maybe an issue to with regard to having the game stock ready to sell
whilst Ive pre ordered many games over the years,Ive never felt the need to have it at midnight
  • If you phone up the day before and say you want to come in at midnight to buy it they will probably arrange for one to be available for you o buy.

I am night checkout at a average sized tesco sometimes they are organised and have the games out of the lockup the night before therefore available to buy at midnight. Sometimes they are not put out until the morning. If someone requested it the day before though I'm pretty sure they would oblige and have one ready for you to buy.

Many do come in at midnight for certain games like COD and FIFA.

We've had this issue before on these forums where a poster was very upset not to be able to get whatever the item was at silly o'clock in the morning. I think the best thing is to check ahead. It really will be up to the individual store as to when they decide to put it on the shelves - there's no 'law' that says they must have it for sale from midnight onwards. Chances are they'll stock the shelves during the night (because it's quieter then) so it might appear at some point, who knows?

Personally I wouldn't risk a special trip just to get whatever it is at 00:01 and then demand it be sold to me if it's not on the shelves yet.

In our store they do not restock high value items like games during the night only during the day. So they will need to be very organised the day before and arrange for the night manager to put these games on sale at midnight and leave them in a lock up the night staff have access to. If you make a request this is more likely to happen and I'm sure they will make one available just for you if they aren't going to make them generally available.

Surely if they've just not put the stock on the shelves you could just ask them to go and grab one from the stock room....or is that asking a lot in Mr Ts?
