Travelex Cash Passport, any good?

I'm really torn about this, so I thought I'd come on here and see what people think. Off to LA quite soon and was looking at MSE for currency ideas. Had never considered a pre-paid travel card before, but the Travelex Cash Passport has caught my eye. Good exchange rate when loading the card, no fees on cash withdrawals, universal acceptance, two cards so one for each of us, etc etc. Seemed fine.
But then I've done some more reading, in particular Review Centre, and it's almost universally negative reviews. Card not always being accepted, fees to take cash out, poor customer support and so on.
I guess people who have had negative experiences are more likely to go on to such a site and complain, but still. Also I think some of them may be using their card in a different way to us. We'll have some back-up cash for things like tips etc, we're planning on one big load at the start, so not worried about reloading it, plus we'll have our regular credit cards if the worst comes to the worst.
Any thoughts, especially from people who have holidayed in California recently, as I think it's now Mastercard but used to be Visa? Thanks!

Travelex Cash Passport? No. Travelex Cash Passport Globe? Yes.
Order it via TopCashBack or Quidco (if you have an existing Quidco account).
Cashback website > Travelex > Globe card.
Do not load the Prepaid card with any of these bank cards: Barclays, Lloyds TSB, Natwest, Santander or RBS, as they charge a fee. Co-op may charge too, but may refund if pressed(Simply because there is nothing in their T&Cs about this charge).0 -
Caxton fx, fair fx and escape travel card - any will do.
@wannie - Hi - not sure I understand when you say "Do not load the Prepaid card with any of these bank cards: Barclays, Lloyds TSB, Natwest, Santander or RBS, as they charge a fee." - i load my prepaid card with my Natwest bank debit card all the time - no fee ever. Most prepaid cards allow free debit card loads. Are you talking about travelex only?0
