Franke minerva taps...

  • I had one installed a few weeks ago. The more I use it, the more I appreciate what a great appliance it is - the kettle is dead, no more waiting for boling water. The Minerva delivers boiling, filtered water within one or two seconds. It was a bit spluttery at first, as the plumber warned, but it's settled down now.

I use it for hot drinks, recipes, cleaning (household and medical) and anything else that needs boiling water. I've already chucked my kettle!
  • I can't speak for the Quooker but I am afraid I love my Franke Minerva tap. The longer I have it for, the more uses I have for it.
I work from home so I am always making teas and coffees but I used to put the kettle on, go back to my computer, forget about it for a while and have to boil it again.
My teenage daughter is a singer who has just started gigging. As her unpaid taxi driver and roadie who returns home shattered from gigs at 1am, I don't think I would trade my instant cup of tea for anything!
Regarding heating costs, because of the above, I believe my Franke is saving me money. I do turn the tank off if I go away for a day or two though.
  • When it works, the minerva tap is fantastic. Unfortunately our first one blew up in fairly dramatic fashion after a little over 18 months. In fairness to Franke, they sent us a new one at no cost, and quickly as it was under warranty. We've had the new one less than 6 months and it too seems to have developed a problem - it boils the water, then shuts down instead of maintaining the temperature - the only way I can get it to reboil is to empty the tank. It's a shame, not least because of the cost/inconvenience, but I'd have been singing it's praises for the first 18 months I had it.
