BBC iPlayer - Online vs TV version

I don't very often use it, but on the online version, I've found an old series from the 80's - Behind the Lines:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00j...pisodes/player
However, when I go to the iPlayer on the TV, this series is not listed. I wanted to make a hard copy on my TV hard drive, so obviously this is not possible.
Are the online and TV-based iPlayers different in content?
If I cannot eventually find the series on my TV, what software can I use to record the online version, so I can mount onto a storage disc, in DVD or DivX format.
Thanks for any help you can give.

I use BBC Iplayer through Virgin Media's Catch Up Service and can only watch things that have actually been shown recently on either BBC1, BBC2 or BBC3. Online they sometimes have a variety of different "older" programmes, that haven't been shown in a while. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Hi
With Windows operating system, the show can be downloaded from iPlayer website using StreamTransport.
From here:-
http://www.streamtransport.com/
The downloaded file is in flv format.
It will play OK with VLC etc.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
Great stuff bat999, many thanks.

bat999,
If I wanted to convert the flv format to a standard dvd format file (mpeg2?) and create a dvd to play on a standalone player, what program(s) would I need to do that?
Thanks again for your help.0 -
Nero is always a good choice, but not free i believe.
Or any converter by Xilisoft should do the trick.0 -
Have you downloaded the Behind The Lines series yet?0

Reason I asked is because the series is not available for download and believe you may encounter problems using above program to do it. Keep us informed please.0

dogmary,
You are quite right. It does not seem to download anymore than 13KB, then VLC doesn't recognise the file. This is the first time of my using this software, so I may be doing something wrong? Did you try using SteamTransport, dogmary?
I was going to try get_iplayer, which was another program recommended to me, but I can't even get that to unload and install from the download file.
I don't know if anyone can double check the download, and maybe give it a try with get_iplayer if anyone has that installed.

It's a shame if we can't get a copy of this. I saw the series when it was first transmitted in 1985 and would've liked to have a hard copy as I would no doubt rewatch it more than once.0 -
What you need to do is use the free 30 day trial of Camtasia Studio
Record screen capture of each episode in real time and then use program features to produce avi file.
Program is easy to use and only problem I had when producing DVD for another forum member was not recording sound on my XP computer(known Camtasia bug).Used a Vista laptop and it was all simple.
With 7 episodes to do I would expect 4/5hours work excluding burning to Dvd.0
