My absolute favourite at the moment are those insurance comparison types offering savings of about £300 on new policies. On that basis, and looking at my policy renewal document at the weekend, insurers should be paying me anything from £80 up to insure my car with them.
Of course in order to save that amount I suppose I could trade my trusty Ford Fiesta in for a Ferrari! Oh, wait that creates a whole new money saving issue!0 -
If you buy TWO do they whack 30p on top ???0 -
Tesco Wafer Thin Honey Roast Ham 420 gram - £2.40 each or 2 for £5 (I have a picture but the website wont let new users post with pictures!)0

Eco refill - less packaging but not necessarily cheaper.
The herbs and spices can be bad for this as well!
Paying attention to the comparitive costs, when my jars have run out, I think I've bought one, maybe two refill-sachet packs... and the rest of the time, just new jars. Bizarrely you actually get more product for your money that way. Maybe the boxes and plastic sachets cost more to produce than the glass jars?
Another fun thing is spotting clearance reductions (aka "stuff on the Whoops Shelf") which aren't actually worth it. I'm all for participating in a win-win partnership where they pass off their borderline-date leftovers which they otherwise wouldn't get rid of to me for a knock down price (8 doughnuts for 25p? tub of ricotta for 5p? pack of sliced sandwich beef for 10p? SOLD to the man in the secondhand bike leathers!)... but you have to be careful. The meat, oddly, is a particular one for this - I've found stuff like lamb chops that are more expensive with the yellow clearance sticker on than the actual full price product which is still several days in date! Whether the product had a significant price drop in-between, or someone was just being !!!!!! with the pricing gun, who knows. And then there's the own brand yoghurts that are threatening to turn, but only have like 5 or 10p knocked off an already low whole pack price... you pick it up seeing an attractive figure on the label, but on closer inspection, it's not worth the chance you'll end up throwing the last one away and spending more overall, particularly when there's nicer ones also going for the same price.
If it's only come down by 10-20% rather than 50% or more it certainly pays to check!0 -
