Hi all
I have 2 boys who are 11 and 7. apart from them, the only people i need to buy for at Christmas is my mum, niece and my sister.
Is it possible to have a good Christmas on £600? Both the boys want new DSI's which will be their 'big' presents and take up the majority of the budget.
What do you think- is it possible to have a great Christmas on only £600?

Absolutely agree, looking back to when my kids were young some of the best times were when there was little money.Slimming World at target0 -
I have a 6 year old son and we spend £600 in total and thats for everything and everyone! my husband and I, our son, brothers, mums, dads, inlaws, food drink!! We spend about £150 on our son and he has a fab day as other people buy so much as well as our gifts. They really dont need any more!0

I think it gets more expensive as they get older doesnt it?
I used to be able to spend £150 on my kids when they were younger and it used to buy loads, but when you start buying DS's and things like that it takes up most of the budget before you even start!
Just found DSi XL on Gamestation for £119 which is the cheapest i have seen, free delivery and 4% cashback which is good!
Never done Christmas on a self imposed budget before so it's all new!!0 -
you should be able to get some great deals on th DSis IF its the XLs you are looking for
they have been superseded by the 3DSi
bought my (16 year old the DSi XL)
he used it 3 or 4 times then told me he had ordered the 3D one
typical
he is a hardcore gamer though
but it is good news if you want the XL as loads of places will be trying to get rid of them
sony is launching their new handheld at christmas so its a buyers market!
its gonna be THE big one in the gaming world0 -
I'd have said it's possible, as long as you're canny with what you buy.
My 2 are 5 and 7 and I've spent £72 on each (so approx £150) between them for Christmas pressies that tick off the list. Looking out for bargains and getting cashback whenever possible has helped hugely.
Good luck and let us know how you do!

I think it is easily done on £600, if you know what you want and you start early you can easily do it at the fraction of that. The dsi's should be around £100 each (check grabbit) and that still leaves around £400.
Alot of us start Christmas shopping as soon as the first post Christmas (or even pre-Christmas these days) sales start perfect for wrapping, cards, decorations, stockings etc. Keeping an eye on the grabbit board for those wanted items at bargain prices are good, using discount codes and cashback when ordering online.
Money making for Christmas can help too, if you start early you could make £600 in vouchers to offset against Christmas making it money neutral.
We are nearly done with Christmas shopping and we do have a fair few to buy for, and we have spent around £200 so far and have vouchers to cover the rest. The money spent so far has been money neutral too, we even have vouchers set aside to cover the cost of food.
Christmas for us will cost us next to nothing and everyone will have some lovely gifts, although I agree it's not all about the gifts.Comping wishlist for 2017

SavvyBunny- sorry, silly Q, but how do you get vouchers?0
