Wheelchair refusal

Brassedoff are you sure it's your chair? You should get the whole thing as a complete package in one delivery. Also yellow is a bit of a random colour, surely they would have mentioned that and got your feedback?
I'd call them and ask for an appointment to go in with the chair as you don't believe they've given you the right one.
It's one of those that they have in the hospital, four small wheels for being pushed. It is bright yellow. I have used them countless times when I visit one of five different hospitals.
I will phone them in the morning and tell them. I cannot self propel in the house with it, let alone outside.0 -
You can't self propel those beasts at all! Is your chair to be self propelling? If so then you've definitely been given the wrong one. The one you describe may well have been intended for a care home resident or someone who has no hope of self propelling but not fit to have an electric one.0

Definitely phone them. A chair with 4 small wheels is not designed to be self propelled - they are referred to as transit wheelchairs and require someone to push you.
Check if this is the chair they assessed you for (certainly doesn't sound like it!). I wonder if it is a temporarily solution due to the fall?
I imagine a special chair will probably have a long waiting time. When you had the asssessment did they say you would get a powerchair or a manual wheelchair?0 -

I have phoned them this morning and you are right, I was delivered a transit chair. They are now collecting it and arranging for a swap. My luck strikes again! They will collect tomorrow, my replacement will now take 14 days as it has to be collected from where they mis-delivered, go back to the manufacturer for cleaning and checking before they send it back to me. Well you couldn't make it up!0 -

Great service eh?!
I imagine the person they delivered your chair too didn't contact them to say they had the wrong one!!
Hopefully in 2 weeks time you will have the right chair and will regain some freedom.0 -
What a mess brassed off! Hopefully your chair will be here soon.0

Pillar to post update. A phone call to the MP yesterday to give him an update and he told me he would make a call.
Today, 12.40 a phone call, "can we deliver your wheelchair and take the wrongly delivered one away?" What a daft question.
Anyway, my Wheelchair has arrived. The wrong one taken away and a phone call from the local PCT chairman to apologise!!
Tried it out earlier, going to TESCO extra to see what isle 59 looks likein a bit.
Can I just go on the record to thank my MP? Marcus Jones MP for Nuneaton, thank you for the hard work and ball busting you have done for me. You could have just paid lip service, but yesterday I made one phone call, he called me four times to update me every time he spoke to someone at the relevant dept.0 -
Glad to hear such a positive outcome, hope you Tesco - may it be the first of many outings.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
