I'm almost there!

I've got £700 and I am almost ready to go go BR. Its taken blood sweat and tears to raise the money. I went back to CAB today to talk thro my anxieties when I finally scape up the courage to go to court.
I really wish I had not bothered. The person I saw this time seemed not to have a clue about BR, in fact I was telling her stuff that I had learn't from all you lovely people!
She made me feel as small as a mouse when I said I only work 35 hrs a week as a chef.." Well you are quite articulate, cant you find a better job" .... not really the nicest thing to say to someone on their beam end....especially when they have been unemployed for since Jan.
From now till court date I will be relying on you folks.... :T

  • Just that I can rely on you guys for a dose of support! Thankyou!
  • To be a chef takes knowledge, skill and dedication, not to mention a passion the saddo at the CAB has probably never felt.

    You hang in there Fleur.
When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN :D

  • Fleur,

Your experience of CAB is typical, some of the advisers are good, some average, some hopeless.

No one knows it all, but the open nature of the forum means if one poster gets the wrong end of the stick, another will raise the alternative point of view.

Typical of the CAB Fleur, in my experience anyway, the advice you glean from this board is second to none and the support great!

    I know :D
Thanks all for your help, I really do wish I had not bothered to go as I am now more worried than when I went.... I have 3 dogs and 2 cats (the cats are uninsured as they are in their twilight years) I only insure the dogs on a very basic policy covering them for 3rd party liability and very bog standard vet bills. The total of all 3 premiums comes to £36 pcm and I have paid this for the last 2 years.
The CAB adviser asked the ages of my dogs and suggested that it would be better for me to rehome the youngest as the premium would not be allowed in my BR. I have managed to keep the insurance going even whilst I was unemployed and I have not put anything down for their food etc as I have been doing this out of my household food bill.
She then then said as I handle cash at work and am responsible for a budget and ordering food that I may lose my job  I left in tears as I may have made mistakes but I am not a thief.
  • That sounds dreadful and not what you needed to hear. I think it's like everything in life; there are experiences good and bad.

Sorry you had a bad one but you're in the right place and in good company
  • It knocked me for six, so much so that I was so upset I could not go to work yesterday as I had zero sleep and felt like I was a criminal
