Giving A New Item To A Store Where It May Not Have Been Purchased

A small inderpendant shop may buy it off you at their wholesale price but no shop would buy it off you at the retail price... thats not really how shops work...
I doubt they would even offer that, as they would have no recourse if they sold the item and it was then found to be faulty.0 -
Ok, I didn't actually register for the competition per say. It was more of a maths quiz where we were told the top three students would win a prize. I never knew what the prize was and somehow ended up 1st place.
I know the retailer does not have to take it back and they would have no reason to. Don't get me wrong. I am not arguing that they should (doesn't really help that I posted this in consumer rights), I am just wondering if anyone had any experiences where this may have happened or where the store offered to buy it at the price of a refurbished one or something.
Please do not misundertsand me, I am not looking for documents that say they have to take the product. I am wondering whether this has ever happened.
you could contact the competition organisers and see if they are willing to give you an alternative.
but i am sure a tablet would sell quickly on ebay0 -
Sell on gumtree or put a classified ad in a local paper? Then have it collected or deliver it and receive cash.
Or put it to one side for Christmas..0 -

i don't see what the problem with ebay is. you say that the fees and postage wont help your financial situation? make sure it's sent with sufficient insurance and there's little to worry about. having it sat in your house isn't going to help your financial situation either.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
or if it's causing you that much grief, i'll take it off your hands for the cost of postagehelpful tips

I agree with this - try and sell it in your local paper! I don't know about yours, but ours allows items with a value of up to £200 to be listed free! It is only for one night, but if it doesn't sell, you can keep re-listing until it does!
Things like tablets if they are reasonably priced will sell well, especially as we are now in the run up to Christmas. I sold my Nintendo DS this way - had numerous phone calls and the first person who came to see it, bought it! She got a good deal for her son, I got a few extra quid for an item no longer used: win, win0 -
What sort of tablet? If it's a xoom or an iconia or something I'd happily buy it off you :P0

If you can find an independent computer/electronics shop, go in and ask if they want to try selling it on sale or return (ie they pay you if they sell it, or give it back to you if they don't) - set your price at maybe 20% off list price (margins are thin on these things, so that leaves a good profit for you both). Neither party has any risk, both can profit, job done.0
