Euro car parking..parking fine from Spain
Comments
-
If it's a 'legal' parking ticket (as opposed to one of the Mickey Mouse ones) it could be pursued as there is a reciprocal fine collection agreement to which both Spain and the UK are signed up. However if Spanish courts work like UK ones it's just as likely that they will write it off.
If it's a Mickey Mouse (with a name like that I'd imagine it is - official authorities are not PLCs) one you can ignore it anyway. If it's a genuine one I suggest you wait and see if anything comes from a UK court.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
Sorry for the typo.
Its Euro Parking Collection PLC

I found this article although it's 9 years old:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/2719359/Parking-in-Europe-Fine....html
And a few other mentions when Googling (lots of German results). But the firm is based in London. I also found this pepipoo thread:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/lofiversion/index.php/t52117.html
Only from 2010 and pepipoo say ignore, they are usually correct. Pepipoo regular poster, Gan says 'Euro have contracts with local and overseas authorities to collect cross border fines for a commission.
It's not clear where you stand because one report suggests that they can't enforce in the UK. Couldn't paste the link but if you Google "item 21 Project Sparks report in full Euro" you should find it. '
I Googled that suggestion by Gan and it's a very boring London Councils' article - from 2005 - but hidden in there is the admission that Euro are powerless debt collectors:
'On a practical level, agencies such as Euro Parking Collection (EPC) have built a commission–based business around collecting unpaid fines, road tolls and parking tickets from foreign drivers. EPC have about 70 clients (mostly UK and overseas local authorities). Transport for London, Westminster City Council and the London Borough of Croydon use EPC’s services. EPC have been able to persuade eight national licensing authorities to release details contained on their vehicle registration databases for the purposes of debt recovery. EPC act on behalf of their clients and admit that in most cases payments are made voluntarily, as EPC have no practical means of enforcement through foreign courts. '
So if it were me I would ignore it. But for up to date info why not ask on a new thread on pepipoo? Register & start a new topic here:
