Doesn't it have drivers built into Windows for this, albeit not great. Just turned the place upside down as I am sure I had a driver disk for it somewhere, but it has long gone it seems.
Just found this too - You may need to register to get it but ZDNet is legit.

I threw an original driver cd for this in the bin a couple of weeks ago, it didn't have any XP drivers as this printer came out in the 90's, long before windows XP was released.0

Have you tried right clicking the driver .exe and selecting properties, compatibility, run in e.g. Win98 mode?
I got a HP Deskjet 500c running on XP using this method, came with Win 3.0 floppy.Move along, nothing to see.0
