Did they collect for the same dead person for 3 weeks running or is that bingo hall just a really dangerous place to work?0

Were they customers? Regulars? Perhaps their 'friends' at Bingo would want to send something.
You don't have to give them any money if you don't want to.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
Perhaps they thought if you could afford to waste money on bingo you could afford a £ or two for a collection ? If you don't want to give don't! It seems collections/charities are everywhere these days!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

"I go to the bingo to try to win some money not give it to the relatives of some drug addict for all I know."
And yet what you actually do by piddling your money away in an attempt to win slightly more money at the bingo is probably not too far from that.0 -
I can think of many things to do that are better than Bingo.... At 72% return to player it's one of the worst gambling options to take....apart from lottery tickets but at least some of the lottery income goes to good causes. But...if you like it as a form of entertainment then that's up to you. I find the number calling rather boring. So what are people supposed to do with their hard earned money?
I actually have a greater income than I need to survive and pay bills so I spend it on bingo and drink and other things that are not necessary.
So what?
Get a life.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

A collection for the family ... no thanks
A collection for the a charity such as hospital that treated them like Great Ormand Street, or if they died from cancer for CancerResearchUK, or Parkinsons for example then yes.
There is a big difference between a genuine charity collection and opportunistic family members cashing in on the death of a 'loved' one.0 -
Oh for goodness sake you sound like a right misery.
You weren't forced to give to the collections so where's the problem? And for the record no not everyone dies tragically - some die very peacefully in their sleep. By tragically I would guess that they died in an accident.2014 Target;

I used to be a member of a disability group on Yahoo a few years ago.Is this the latest thing at the bingo now?
The past 3 Saturdays I have been to the bingo the caller gives the following announcement.
Someone died tragically so we are having a collection for their family, put any spare change at the side of the table and someone will be round to collect it.
Doesn't everyone die tragically?
No one had a collection when my cousin was killed by a drunk driver.
I think I will write in my will that when I die tragically my local bingo hall is to have a collection for my funeral.
No flowers just give the money to charity.
It was actually really good group only they started asking for money to send flowers to a member as they were feeling down etc.
Once or twice wasn't a problem but it started to become a regular occurrence .
We all had the same disability, we all had the same bad and good days, hacked off days, pain days etc etc
So, I unsubscribed, I was sick to death of the email asking for money. Had someone died and they wanted to send a wreath, I wouldn't have minded that, but it became practically a weekly occurrence.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted
I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

The family would probably be using the money to try and afford a headstone, not a holiday! Funerals can be very expensive. Or they might be suddenly struggling because the deceased was the main earner. Just because someone has thought to have a whip round for them does not mean the family instigated it or is exploiting their loved one's death!0
