Need Dongle to access Internet from holiday cottage

OK apologies in advance - I know I posted a query about this a couple of weeks ago but I can't find it = despite doing a search here so please bear with me.

I am going on holiday for a week in the UK next month - to Suffolk - we have rented a cottage for a week and I shall be spending time with my brother who lives nearby to update our family tree.

No wifi at our rented cottage so will need a dongle with Inet access. Do not plan on much in way of downloads, just surfing and email checking. I have a PAYG Orange phone but it seems there is limited Orange coverage where I am going and TMobile is better.

Anyone a) recommend what sort/capacity of Tmobile dongle I need (how much capacity etc - I assume I can buy one as PAYG) b) how does it work - do I need to register an account with Tmobile first to use it and if so how far in advance c) does Dongle usage start counting down as soon as I start using it or can I buy it now

Thx

Thanks for that I have just reread the responses and it seems that there is a network of providers in Suffolk depending on where exactly you are based. I looked up the village where will shall be staying Long Melford and there are two local transmitters, 3 with 2100mhz and TMobile with 1900mhz so I suppose 3 is best option.

Original queries remain - do I need register in advance and if so how far, are 3 PAYG dongles time and date stamped ie if I buy and register this week does clock start running and how much capacity do I need for email checking and surfing and the occasional document download.
  • You can buy it at any time. Just don't plug it in and begin to use it before you are ready.

Example here. 1 GB may be enough if you aren't using YouTube and the like.

If you have an existing modem, you can unlock it and use a SIM only solution. Such as here or here
