new garnier BB cream?

I had a look at this today. The sheen I quite like. Its quite like the luminecent chanel primer I used to use, not shiny but glowy. And the coverage was better than any tinited moisturiser I've ever tried
BUT: the light shade was FAR to dark for me, and the smell of it is something horrific. I've got some on my arm still (had to wash it off my face the colour was ridiculous) but the smell from the bit in my arm is still very strong. Yuck. My cats keep sniffing my arm and doing the face cats pull when something smells bad to them. (I just want to see out pof curiosity how long it lasts into this evening, the coverage).
So if this...coverage and finish is standard for a BB cream I want to find one that's a lot paler and has no stench, because otherwise I like it.

Where are the rules on blog's quite a lot of people have them , just wondered what the rules were re linking to them, I've had a look but can't find the guidance.lostinrates wrote: »angelil, linking or even refering to your own blog is against MSE rules.Booo!!!0 -
Hi, just wanted to add my two penn'orth! I have the light shade and it does suit my pale skin (I'm a redhead) and it seemed to me that some of you may be applying it too thickly, as when I did this it felt very heavy and looked a bit cakey. When applied correctly, my face looked glowing; it covered my open pores and evened my skin-colour. The only downside I found was that I after a while I my oily skin became more shiny than normal, so I had to blot it sooner than if I didn't wear it.
Hope this help0 -

No....I'm definetly applying correctly.
Bobbi Brown, Porcelaine is my colour if its any help. I have only ever applied tiny amounts of this stuff to my skin as a little goes a long way, treated the BB cream in the same way. Just showed me looking as if I had a baaad fake tan!
I also had the same issue with the garnier roll-ons (they worked well for my skin in the summer when it had picked up some deeper colours in the sun but being 30 now I stayed out of the sun and lived daily reapplications of sun block on my face! Result was skin is still fair and hopefully a reduced risk of skin cancer!!) Garnier earlier this year made paler roll ons and now they work as they match my skin.
The initial roll ons match these BB creams in terms of tone. When Garnier bring out all 5 different tones of the BB cream as they have done so with the roll ons, then one will hopefully match!
But what I can say is I am definetly not 'caking it on', I only apply in little parts to my face (not all over) as I don't need foundation everywhere, hence, it shows up if the colour doesn't match! Are you perhaps applying all over?0 -
Also putting my 2 pennies in:
I've been using a BB cream by the brand Skin79 for a couple of years and couldn't be more happier. It's the VIP Gold one, which is good for oily skin.
There are a lot of brands out there (just try ebay!) and they are all in mainly 1 or 2 colours. A lot of the companies do little 4ml or 15ml sizes so you can try the colours out, and they are mostly suited to lighter, more yellow skin tones anyway.
The one I use comes in a pump bottle so I use 1 pump and smooth over my face with clean hands. It gives a light coverage and evens out my skin tone, but you can still see my freckles through, it's just my skin but better! As for the skin care benefits it has, it definitely doesn't break me out but I wouldn't say it has lightened my skin.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

Snap.
I am dark haired; english rose type but VERY pale.
The Garnier BB is too dark and too orangy for my skin tone.
I need something a lot cooler shaded.
Me too...mousey english rose type, VERY pale skin. Many foundation ranges aren't pale enough and are far to orange toned when they are. I had hoped something light and sheer might be suitable.0 -
I wondered about this and so looked on youtube and there are several reviews on there! I have a BB cream that a friend in Hong Kong sent me from a brand called BRTC. I consider it to be very good. Many people on youtube and on blogs have commented that this is like an immitation of proper BB creams. It seems to be more like a tinted moisturiser than than a BB cream.
The BRTC one is like a mixture between a tinted moisturiser and a foundation so the texture is thick enough to cover but not like a full foundation. It sets better if you use powder afterwards. BB creams originated from Germany as they were meant for people the skin recover for people who had just had plastic surgery, but then they caught on in Asia and modified it for the general market. Now it's catching on in Europe. I haven't personally tried the Garnier version but i'm happy with my BRTC Jasmine water one and the tone is light and matches my skin well and I have fair skin too! It does have a slight scent but if you don't like that wears off quickly..it wouldn't put me off the product.
There is a video on youtube where two girls compare lots of different bb creams and have different skin tones.. and swatch them on their skin. The girl with fairer skin like mine was best suited to the Jasmine water one from BRTC so I decided to try that one and got a friend from HK to send me one over. I'm sending her a pressie she cant get there in exchange!

I just had an unsuccessful look too (one of the problems with rules if they can't be easily found I guess!)...I've only seen ''reminders'' within threads, most commonly on this board or the OS board.Where are the rules on blog's quite a lot of people have them , just wondered what the rules were re linking to them, I've had a look but can't find the guidance.
My suggestion would be to contact the forum team who'll be able to tell you more. I just didn't want to see someone getting a gentle ''ticking off'' when it could be avoided

i am using the Garnier BB cream in medium, I am olive skinned and find the medium pale but this is the darkest they do
I am happy with the cream, but am tempted to try an asian BB cream, can you get darker ones or are they all really pale?0
