new garnier BB cream?

Read up on the "original" BB creams from Japan and Korea, and if you want basically a tinted moisturiser with a little extra buy from those brands on ebay or asian beauty shops, they aren't that much dearer than the Garnier one but a bit less of a gimmic.0

^^ basically this. I had already bought 2 myself (I know, not very :money::o ) but then Garnier's PR offered to send me one of these puppies over for free and I thought the comparison would be interesting. But if you want the genuine BB cream experience you won't get it with this product.Read up on the "original" BB creams from Japan and Korea, and if you want basically a tinted moisturiser with a little extra buy from those brands on ebay or asian beauty shops, they aren't that much dearer than the Garnier one but a bit less of a gimmic.0 -
angelil, linking or even refering to your own blog is against MSE rules.0

I bought this a couple of weeks ago, and quite like it. Doesn't work miracles - but we know nothing does!
A bit more than a tinted moisturiser, and it does leave a dewy finish, but all in all pretty good. And I too have a 43 year old face!! I got it for £7.99 from Superdrug.0 -
Currently £7.50 from Sainsburys, not tried it myself, I found it too dark for me (lightest shade) have seen recently they created a few more shades of the roll on concealer and the pale shade matches for me so am waiting for them to follow on this with the BB cream then I may think about it!
Until then I'm using the dregs of my Bobbi Brown foundation which I mix with facial cream for a more subtle look. Can't quite see how BB cream would be any different to this other then not having to blend the two together.0 -

Oh, it is?lostinrates wrote: »angelil, linking or even refering to your own blog is against MSE rules.
Didn't know. I thought it would be OK as it was relevant. It's hardly 'advertising' seeing as it's just a small blog - I certainly don't make any money if someone clicks through. I will edit accordingly then. If it's still not OK just shout

Sorry for such a late reply. BB creams, or Blemish Balms etc are very popular in Asia (originally invented in Germany for use after cosmetic peels/surgery). They are basically souped up tinted moisturisers offering a little more coverage and supposedly treating the skin with spf (depending on brand), moisture and skin repair. There are many brands to choose from such as Etude House, Skin79 and Missha. What is the original "BB" cream & what does it do?
Type BB cream into google and you will find many reviews and youtube videos about the Asian brands, they are also more readily available on ebay, just type BB cream and look at the international sellers.
They are a bit of a novelty, but not as much as the Garnier one.
As you can probably tell, I'm very much into Asian makeup brands namely those from Korea, but if anyting you do have to do your research as it's not like you can pop into boots and do a swatch test. Look online as said and maybe even try the sample sizes that are readily available on Ebay as obviously everyone has different preferences and skin.
Hope I helped0 -
so after a google, it turns out there are a quite a few BB creams already out there..... must have missed that! there's a clinique one that some reviews say are too pale (so looks promising for me!) but only in the US, not the UK. plus a MAC one too. i'm a big fan of asian skin care ranges as my skin is so pale, but the main one i know is RMK which doesn't have one. i'm a bit nervous of looking at products with no idea of the brands behind them, but this website looks fairly useful to help:

i don't really like buying things from websites i've never heard of.... looks like ebay will be the best option.:happyhear0
