The guy in the golf - ok he knocked him off but I actually thought he'd just driven off. He stopped, apologised and waited for the police etc, although could have been a bit more sympathetic. But is that woman for real? Wish I could hear more of what she was saying. Also was the 999 operator just stupid or was it noisier than it sounded with traffic?

I wondered if they were trying to keep him on the line till the emergency services got there?

I had to rewatch the vid several times...All the motorists were presented with a frontal view of an oncoming cyclist.

Clearly cycles are narrow so you have to watch out for them and give extra attention.

The guy was wearing a high vis vest to try and aid his visibility.

He did appear to be travelling quite quickly so obviously a seasoned cyclist.

The car the turned right across his path clearly didnt register his presence.

The silver car turning out didnt either and was too involved in pulling out. She was probably looking but not seeing !

In such situations, people are in shock so their behaviours can seem strange. It needs someone to take charge. No one did.

Good thing he hadnt been seriously injured or stopped breathing because he probably would have died at the roadside whilst they all stood and looked at him.

Can anyone recommend a good in car recorder?

I like to make the most of non fault accidents with my whiplash claims.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • I do wonder how the woman in the Focus didn't see the cyclist as he flew through the air like superman as he was hit by the man in the Golf!

  • What's wrong with that awfull woman, she didn't cause the accident yet for no good reason runs over the bike, it's not like she couldn't see it or was going to fast, she is just slowly pulling out of a junction after the accident had happened, such impatience, I hope she was billed for the bike.

I suspect she only saw the black car turning and though she was covered.... She didn't see the cyclist at all.

Mate got knocked off his motorbike a few weeks ago. Woman drove straight through a red light. Bike a write off he's off work with knacked shoulder and hand. Worth noting he is a big chap on a big touring bike, daytime, headlight on (Can't turn them off on new Yamahas) and a high viz vest. Still didn't see him or the red light!!

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

But she was only inching out, you would have thought she would have felt and heard that she had hit something yet she carries on and manages to completetly run over the bike and get it jammed under her car, dozy mare.

You'd think so, but maybe she had the radio on?
Percentage wise how many people drive around with the radio on to help them ignore any strange expensive sounding noises coming from their vehicle? 50%? 60%? 70%?

How many people drive about with flat tyre's?
How many people have faulty headlight/indicator/brake lights?
How many (and this annoys me) drive around at night or in fog, with NO lights on?

Before you answer that, bare in mind it's reckoned (survey) that 60% of drivers don't know what this means:

The driving population is full of idiots.

Looking at the video, the cyclist is blocked for vision by the van, so the black car is turning after him thinking the road is clear, then doesn't react fast enough.

Likewise the silver car's view is blocked, then the cyclist is off and below her line of vision skidding under the front of her car.
You can hear her say she thought she had clipped the pavement turning left, and that's what she thought the bump was.

I agree the reaction was not what I would expect when she found out different though.

It can't be a good junction, the 20 sign has a big bend in it already.

I've just started cycling ... I have got all the high viz clothing and lights and though i'd be fine if I had them, i'm worrying now! ... I'm supposed to be peddaling 8miles a day every day on main roads pretty soon - now im starting to re-think! Some people just have no consideration for cyclists!
