Are polished porcelain floor tiles dangerous?

I once surprised a mouse walking across a smooth floor. It hurtled off, and when it reached the end of the room, it tried to turn and failed, and you could see it losing control of its backside as it spun around. Highly amusing at the time.

Yep my cat is going to be really upset when we replace our cheap laminate kitchen floor with non-slippy tiles. He seems to enjoy doing backward rolls when he goes too fast and always puts his claws out so he has even less grip...
