HP or Epson. I had a Canon printer and it went through ink like crazy and produced really average quality prints. Avoid Brother- they're good enough printers but are no where near as good as HP/Epson/Canon at the same kind of price. They're more a budget printer, but without the budget price. Plus if you're ever in a fix and need some ink quickly, no retail shops bother selling their cartridges.0

Not much between them but, Epson newer series printers are programmed to make life a misery for you if you don't use genuine cartridges, which are expensive and don't hold much ink, HP for seperate cartridges you are looking at the Photosmart machines that take 364 series cartridges, again like Epson in standard form they contain very little ink, also these particular cartridges have smart chips which know if the cartridge has been swapped between different printers, this is a pain in the @rse if you use refilled carts, no replacement chips are available either so the only way to use a refill or compat is to overide the ink monitor, HP send out firmware updates to prevent you doing this so the only really hassle free printers are Brother and Canon.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
Although it may seem expensive to start with I would invest in a laser printer.
The quality is excellent, I reckon you could get a Samsung colour laser for £100, the toners, compatible for maybe £10 each x 4.
The printer I use most is a Brother mono laser and I get about 2000 a4 full black photos per cartridge.it prints about 30/40 pages per minute. The replacement cartridge is £10/£20.
So in the long run it works out cheaper and faster and better quality.0 -

I would advise against a Samsung colour laser printer in that price bracket, it will be very expensive on toners as you will be restricted to using OEM toners only, I think you are refering to the printers that take the CLP300 series cartridges for which there are some very cheap compatibles available, Samsung no longer make these machines, plus, once you start adding a copier and scanner to a colour laser printer you start talking serious money.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
In same boat as you. Been looking at reviews and for basic inkjet the HP Deskjet 1000 seems to come out top for speed and quiteness. As long as you dont use there own brand re fills when you come to buy them.
Thought about a epson but they say they drink ink and are slow.
If interested Curries and commet have them at the moment at around £20.
So thats where im heading this weekend0 -
This little program is good for ink saving.0

This will let you preview what is on what page and usually automatically deletes those useless pages with one line on. You can also choose to put more pages per sheet, mine is set as the default printer so I remember to use it

Hated Epson. My HP has worked well problem free since the day Purchased. Epson had buggy software, and the paper tray, etc didn't work as well as it should after a year.
So my recommendation would be a Hewlett Packard.Smile, why not.0 -
A personal choice, I've had most Brands Brother was the cheapest in ink carts , Canon so, so, Epson kept blocking up, now using an HP so far so good, Printers are cheap because the bl--dy ink is so expensive, I re-ink my own carts now."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0
