Looking to buy a new printer - which brand?

I'm looking to purchase a new printer; which brand would you guys recommend as being the cheapest / most cost-effective for lots of printing in colour?
I read Epson would be good for the above - could anyone vouch for this?

Thanks!

You will probably find comaptibles more readily available for an Epson

Some of these have 19ml of ink per cartridge, whereas some comaptibles have 13ml

If by colour you mean photos, then a printer with six or more cartridges will be better

With photos, the paper used is as important as anything else with regard to getting a good result

  • Brother, as these printers have the biggest capacity catridges when using compatibles, typicaly 29ml Black and 20ml for each colour cartridge, a J315 will cost about £80 and has Wireless capability, if you are looking for quality then perhaps a Canon MG5250 though this won't be so cheap to run. Avoid like the plague Kodak, 5 inks in one cartridge will never be cheap or efficient in the long term, don't believe the hype or the advertising.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world
  • Canon personally, very good printers. Epson not as good as they used to be IMO.

I got 'sucked in' by the Kodak adverts and bought one of their printers a year ago. Wow it is shockingly bad.

I now have a Canon MG5250 on sale in Argos (and PC World) for just under £80 and the world is a happier place again ...

If you're printing a lot, look into CISS (basically reservoirs of ink you can top up, with a plastic tube running to the print heads - saves a LOT of plastic and messing about. Online they seem to start at £30-£50, but persevere, I got mine for £6 (incl 400ml of ink!) and it has paiud for itself many times over already. Ink topups from 69p/100ml/colour.

Funny that. I have an HP Designjet 90R sitting here this last two years doing nothing - not even connected anymore.
