    £2 a 250ml bottle @ Tesco extra Durham

Nearest Tesco Extra to me is 10 miles away. Only 14p more at Wilkinsons though.

It has been posted somewhere on this forum that it is also £2 at Asda but it is only the red label carburettor one.
  • I stuck the whole bottle in with half a tank of Shell V-Power! :D
  • I was just wondering what will happen if I stick the whole bottle in with a quarter of a tank of petrol?

Says to use half the bottle with a full tank.

    :D

There will be an almighty nuclear explosion, removing all life from a 10 mile circle around your home.

Either that, or a whole lot of smoke! :rotfl:

If the 'Redex' is the same stuff that I used many years ago it was for 'upper cylinder lubricant'. That is for new car, in those days to eliviate more than normal wear in the 'swept' area of the cylinder. It was dissolved in the petrol and helped to lubricate the cylinder where no oil reached. As cars got older the ring wear allowed oil to reach above the rings so the need for UCL stopped. It also was fabulous for getting rid of carbon which in those days of duff oil/petrol/cylinder machining was not as good as it is today. Soaking the top of the piston via the plug hole was the thing to do and when you eventually got the car to start!! clouds of white smoke would envelop the area. My recollection was that way it increased the oil consumption quite a bit. Garage forecourts in those days would automatically add 'a shot' of Redex to each gallon. I don't see any over-riding reason for its use on a regular basis these days.
