Redex

Just bought some Redex petrol injector additive from Wilkinsons for half price.

I was just wondering what will happen if I stick the whole bottle in with a quarter of a tank of petrol?

Says to use half the bottle with a full tank.

:D

Use only as instructed, too much could cause problems. In fact there have been stories of it removing gunk from the fuel lines and then blocking the injectors, so im two minds as to whether it's worth it or not.

Why would you want to do that?

For a start, you will waste seven eighths of a bottle of Redex.

Snake oil, they have been tested and not one ounce of evidence supports it working

  • it worked a treat for me. One quarter of redex per tank. Now i drive a diesel, it goes in the lawnmower :D
  • I'd avoid Redex, it's placebo.

If you want to clean your injectors and fuel pressure regulator, remove them form the car, put them in a ultrasonic cleaner with some cleaning solution and clean them properly.
  • If you get them cleaned though, make sure they are used again quickly as if left standing they can stick and cause more problems.

It never used to be. We used to pour it into carburettors on older cars. You should see all the carp that came out of the exhaust.

I used to use neat Redex and a pan scrub for decoking cylinder head combustion chambers, piston crowns and valves.

    Hmm...sounds fishy to me ;)
  • This stuff worked great on my mate's HRV which was having starting problems due to dripping injectors.
