O2 Fast-track upgrade - HTC Sensation

Hey guys,
Just looking for some opinion/advice. My contract (24 months) expires in December, but as I am a silver customer I can upgrade a month early with O2 on 18th November.
I would really like the HTC Sensation which usually has an upfront price for the handset as well as the contract price which I really can't afford to be paying as it is usually around £99 or more on a £27 a month tariff. I don't want to spend over £27 a month as I would like to insure my phone with O2 for the £7.50 per month price I have now as it has proven useful.
O2 currently do a special offer that the HTC Sensation is free with a £27 a month 24month contract, which would be perfect. It would only be £34 at present to fast-track upgrade too. The man in the O2 shop I spoke to said after the offer ends there is no guarantee that I could get that deal at upgrade time so I'm toying with the idea of paying the fast-track fee and getting it now?
What do you think? Am I best to wait and get through to retentions who offered me NOTHING last time 22 months ago and risk a higher price or should I upgrade now?
Any advice appreciated

I've never subscribed to this early upgrade 'benefit'. It's basically a chance for your current provider to try and lock you in again, but because you can't leave at that time, the offers are often poor.
If it were me, I think I'd wait, take my chances taking my PAC code and see what offers I get then. It's must easier to negotiate when you have genuine deals with other providers to counter their offer with.0 -
Perfect? Special offer? Is this how O2 reward for loyalty?moneymogul wrote: »...O2 currently do a special offer that the HTC Sensation is free with a £27 a month 24month contract, which would be perfect.
I don't know what amount of the airtime you a talking about, but Senstion with 300 minutes is available for 24x£20.42 on Vodafone/T-mobile for new customers with up to £60+£10 cashback.
24x£21.50 on O2 with 200 minutes and £50 cashback.0 -
My only reason for asking was just if there were no better deals at time of contract expiry. Where is that Vodafone offer? I have been very impressed with O2 over my last two contracts so would probably wish to stay unless I can find a much better deal. I'd be happy to wait if O2 would be likely to give me a good deal when my contract runs out.0

I would always wait to the last month, put your notice in and go to out of contract retentions they will give a lot better deals.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I am not sure if the same deals are available if you go to, say, affordable mobiles via quidco/TCB, but it is worth checking.0 -
