  • i felt like a " allmost " extreme coupon'er

of course if we were in the USA we would have had 40 - 50 of each flavour, the dates on them are till 2014, thus free pasta sause for the next allmost 3 years

    a shame really
  • The max i've bought in one go is 6, the staff at my local store are so cagey about tokens as it is I always feel guilty waiting at the checkout until they give me the go-ahead

  • I've only been using coupons for the last few weeks but already have a stockpile of cereal, Ocean Spray and Soup (with lots of kids it won't get wasted!).

I tend to keep to no more than 10-12 coupons at a time and print in colour where possible. I also tend to go for the younger or happier looking SAs and try and make conversation before presenting the coupons. So far I have had no problems, bar one grumpy older SA in Tesco who had the only free lane - never again!

However, last night I bought 10 sauces in Morrisons, with some other shopping, and handed over my 10 coupons to the SA. Wanting to be efficient, he called over the supervisor to ask if he could put through all 10 together rather than 10 seperate coupons.

The supervisor first asked him if I'd had 10 jars, then looked at the screen to double check, then looked in my basket to make sure. She then claimed that I had bought the wrong sauce, so I pointed out that it said ANY sauce. Then she tried to claim that the spelling on the voucher was different to the jars (Sacia/Sacla) which I also disproved.

Not wanting to be beaten, she finally declared that as the sauce was 99p and the voucher was for £1 each, I could only use 9 vouchers as otherwise I would be claiming more than the products were costing me. Her argument was that the manufacturer wouldn't refund them the £1 per voucher as I had only paid 99p a jar.

I tried to politely discuss the flaws in her argument with humour and even offered to pay them the 10p back but that "wasn't possible''.

I have no problem whatsoever in paying 99p for 10 jars of sauce, but I wish they would think through their objections in advance rather than just 'making stuff up' :)
