There are only a few factories worldwide which make white goods. Some of the 'own brand' ranges are made at the same factories and to a similar spec to some of the 'premium' brands. You will find that some of the big kitchen suppliers, eg, MFI, are selling brands you've never heard of (liked, eg, Diplomat(I think)). Actually, these are made by exactly the same manufacturers as the well known brands, relabelled for the retailer.

When I was replacing my integrated dishwasher, I was trying to research a couple of models, neither of which I knew much about, that were on sale a local wholesale/seconds supplier. I came across this site http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums and posted a question and got really good advice.

(Sorry, obviously crossed over with jessmist when posting the above link!)

Having 'heard' of a brand isn't necessarily a good recommendation. So many brands we are familiar with have been bought out and sold on - they're just trading on an historic reputation and aren't necessarily that good any more (As Ozskin says). Next time I'm going to buy an appliance I would certainly look at that site (as well as this one, obviously!) again.

although not a good reputation i would suggest candy for the high spin washing machine, a rated 1400 spin 18 prog and a 32 min quick wash, I know cause my neighbour was asking, i dont usually carry all that info in my head. I believe it is exactly the same as the hoover machine so im told but at around 80 quid less trade price is the wrong side of 300 quid so expect to pay 20%+ more than that. the rest depends on what you want

tecnik are an cheapie brand, I dont have too much experience of them but they dont come with a good rep.at the mo you should find ignis (cheap whirlpool) a reasonable buy. the big problem is that the label on the out is not that important its who makes it and which factory it comes out of there is a lot of rebadging. hence the ignis ffr we now use is the more expensive whirlpool one once you open the box, even some of the literature is whirlpool. every manufacturer does not necessarilyhave good products across the range either. do your reasearch and you should be ok. for eg the kompact new double ovens are lovely teka ones and v similar to the kuppersbusch though you wont find that info anywhere.

I'm looking for a stainless steel built in double oven and found this Ignis one. It looks quite sleek in the picture and is a good price, has anyone any experience of this brand?

I did a bit of research and bought Bosch, my fil is a builder for a top end company in the lakes and they use either Bosch, aeg or neff. We got ours from boots appliances via quid co and the dishwasher from comet via quid co (it was 50 cheaper than any where else).

    very happy with them sofar

    regards

we'v eused Bosch for the last 8 or 9 years with no worries, I'm amazed at Whirlpool getting a decent rep on here as from what I read in the past on Which and other sites to avoid but maybe things change. Our kitchen fitter recommended some of the Bosch items as he's been fitting them for years and his feedback has always been good on them.

We also got a CDA double oven, gas hob and hood. We chose these as we liked the specs and look of them. So far more than happy with them, the oven seems to be working as well as our previous Bosch in old house and the 5 ring gas on glass hob, well that's a site to behold with the wok burner on full
