Why can I connect on one laptop but not the other?

Hi
I'm pulling my hair out here. Have lost internet connection for last 48 hours on my laptop. Son's is working fine. When I search for internet connection, it show's up. Select it, Connect, then it says 'Problem Applying Profile'.
Then I select profile, selected it then clicked on connect, then says same thing again 'problem applying profile'.
Any ideas anyone - really grateful for some help.

try deleting your saved network profile from network and sharing centre > manage network connections, then connecting from scratch.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

No that didn't work either. Deleted the profile, tried connecting - failed. Tried to set up a new connection using the wizard and it didn't detect any networks?
Think I won't have any hair left by the morning!0 -
I know this may seem daft and I am sure this would not catch you out but, is there a slide switch on the front of the laptop to turn the wireless thingy on and off and if there is has someone inadvertently caught it and turned it off.
I only ask because I have been there, done that0 -

Yes, I've done that in the past but no, it's not that either :-(0 -
I can't believe it. I'm on line again.
I reconfigured something (trial and error) and it worked.
Thanks everyone.0 -
