I cannot see how we are ignorant when we seem to be the ones who know the rules and you, with no knowledge, are asking for information about them!0 -
Sounds quite wonderful this inheritance lark.
Anyone out there want to give me a couple grand? I'd like to cruise the med.0 -

Yes, because not knowing the law regarding benefits is the ONLY type of ignorance isn't it?0 -

I know, having somebody actually buy their own house, I mean, who the hell do they think they are working for 25 years to pay for the house, plus all it's expenses? Then to leave the entire house in the will, with debt, solicitor fees. What a selfish person my grandmother was. All this time she could have been in state run sheltered housing, but instead she decided to stay in her own home.0 -
Don't worry, I wont be working for 25 years. I'm 25 and got 6 months to live. Still working though, now do i qualify for the inheritance?0

You aren't the only one in that situation, I have sympathy for you, I do, but I'd expect a better attitude from someone in your situation. You don't QUALIFY for inheritence, let's get that straight. His mother left him a gift that she worked her entire life to leave. That was her right, and it is his right to accept it. If you actually read the question in my OP it was regarding whether the govt would FORCE him to spend it ALL on the benefits he is receiving. Benefits he is only receiving because he is not well enough to work (and after 45 years self employment, aged 70, you can't expect him to keep working). My mum works part time so she can pick up the pieces at home, so it's not like either of them have never worked, is it?0 -

It's the relevant type of ignorance when that's the subject that you want information about.
Calling people "ignorant" when they know something about a subject of which you have no knowledge is just ridiculous!0 -

Well, at 70, strictly speaking he receives benefits because he hasn't made any pension provision, not because he can't work.0 -

And what knowledge did YOU bring to the table? I was calling YOU ignorant, not the people who offered their knowledge, you offered nothing, therefore, you are ignorant.0 -

He hasn't got any pension provision because he lost it when he went bankrupt many moons ago. It was a lump sum and it was lost in the bankruptcy.0
