  • Josh please don't take extreme couponing as an example of US couponing. On some episodes the majority of coupons used are either counterfeit or being used against T&C, TLC have been approached about this by many media outlets as well as organisations that represent manufacturers and they just ignore it. In addition even in cases where the coupons are legit, those on the show buy coupons just for the show, often spending more per coupon than the product costs full price. Its insane! The programme has really harmed couponing in the US to the extent that some stores have stopped accepting coupons at all and others have introduced stringent limits such as only 4 coupons per customer, per day.

In some ways we have better coupons here, our coupons overall do tend to be higher value in comparison to product cost. Also there are very few PDF coupons in the US and those that there are tend to be more for restaurants etc than groceries. When there is a PDF coupon, unlike here, you're not allowed to print off more than one copy and it's illegal over there to print PDF versions of coupons in online newspapers whereas here, it's fine unless otherwise stated.

I have saved up to 95% on a shop before but more usual for me is somewhere in the 50-75% range. Technically speaking I could have done a shop where it's all free too, but I think the SAs would get a bit annoyed. As well as printable coupons and those by post I have also won bundles of coupons in prize draws such as the unilever VIP one (now sadly defunct). I also get some good coupons from the waitrose weekender free newspaper, though it only has coupons in every few weeks. A recent one was £1 off their parmigiano regiano cheese, including the essential waitrose varieties. A decent sized resealable pouch of the cheese was £1.73, so 73p with coupon- less than half price. Xx

When you enter the competition you get 2 coupon by email with 40p off Warburtons White Square Wraps or Warburtons Sandwich Thins and 50p off Go Ahed Yogurt Breaks!

The Warburtons wraps and sandwich thins are both on offer for £1 in the co-op at the moment so 60p with the coupon :T

The coupons wouldn't scan but the sa just put them in manually no probs :)

My local premier store (which I haven't visited before and certainly won't again) very gruffly refused to redeem the coupon ('we don't take coupons'). The others are too far away to be worth a trip

So a good offer spoiled in the execution
  • Hello everyone.

I'm tentatively coming back to couponing again.

I'd stopped altogether after a particularly nasty incident in which the supervisor at my local M's accused me of knowingly using forged coupons (they weren't forged at all - in fact, they were the Wright's bread mix coupons that everyone was using at the time). I didn't make a fuss as it's the shop I use every day, but it left me very embarrassed and upset (especially when the lady behind me in the queue had a big go at me).

But I've got over it (!) and I'm back to start SAVING MONEY! again :j

Oh, and I've started to use A's for my big shop - our M's is just too small to have the choice of different ranges of goods that I need when couponing. My A's APG's are going pretty well at the moment :-)
    Would LOVE to win:
A hamper - any sort! A goody bag - any sort! A UK mini-break. A year's supply of something foodie. Anything Sci-Fi related
2013 wins - Cutting Room book, Rock n Rose necklace, £50 M&S voucher, Greggs coffee, £70 voucher for a Onesie

    Good afternoon all :)

Just printed off a regular rewards voucher from the Huggies club (normal couponstar voucher) but for some reason it has printed in Euros this month instead of £ss. Has anyone tried to use one of these instore?? Barcode ends 3001 so don't know whether it'll take £3 off or just be rejected in store??? Any clues from the experts would be great ;)

MT - see you are still doing a smashing job on this thread :D

Stores won't take € vouchers. You are better off contacting huggies and telling them. They should send you a replacement in the post.

All I can say - bolton boy and so worried ***thank you*** so much for your really helpful and honest posts!

Do not worry about me and the extreme program- I could tell when watching it that if it got popular it would ruin couponing for us all.

I am not under the illusion I can get anywhere near 95% off my bill, like I say I am just aiming for a £5 off my weekly shop to start off with, then I'm also interested in the MoCs which are close to the full product value for stockpiling. Of course any tips I come across I will post here as soon as possible :)

I hadn't watched the USA extreme couponing until today! Flippin' ek! I thought I was bad! 5 hours at a checkout and 18 different transactions!? I agree, it's not possible here and I don't know if I would want it to be. I will however tell SAs to watch it if they comment on how many vouchers that I use :)
:D Coupons = the only money we can legally print for ourselves:D

:j A coupon for a free item that is price glitched in Mr T's to be cheaper than Sada for an apg = HEAVEN :j

    :money: total = £47.48 cc = 413 selling stuff = £23.00 Floor pennies = £5.79

I had the same experience, and have sent off an email to their head office. Suggest you do too.

I had a couple of similar experiences in Mr S and have only been back to that store once or twice since. I complained on S Facebook page and their official facebook person seemed very confused as to what their policy was, first they said they don't accept any printable coupons at all because its likely they will be forged, then when I said they shouldn't be telling companies such as p&g that they do, they backtracked and said they accept any printed coupons but the tills in many stores are set up to only accept one of each couponstar coupon per transaction. I'm glad to see that SSM's main site haven't issued any S only coupons this time, good! Hopefully they took on board comments by myself and others on the SSM FB page that getting S to accept coupons is like getting blood out of a stone. Glad to know your experiences haven't put you off altogether xx
