    hi josh

    yes i use mysupermarket
but i also use supermarkets own sites as mysupermarket isn't always correct , most probs i found are on price change over days & mostly tesco prices.

well as to reductions do you want price paid after coupon or price price reduction with coupons/offers
although mine nowhere near boltonboys i prefer to do smaller shops

crikey that's mighty good of you - just out of interest, do you check the offers from mysupermarket?

What is your biggest reduction at the till from couponing? It has to be one of the biggest on this forum!

I was on about the amount you have reduced the shop by in terms of %.

Have you watched the program on TV about the USA people "extreme couponing"? They go from like $400 down to $6 it's incredible, I feel like they plan their shops for weeks tho to do that, and end up with loads of stuff they'll never use.

I am new to this game as I want to bring my shopping bill down and I'm aiming at £5/week to start with this weekend will be my first.

It's interesting that you mainly focus on Tesco, do you mind me asking why that is? is it just that it's closest to you or do they have a better coupon acceptance policy?

I am really looking forward to your next post with offers. I got really excited when I saw a post earlier in the board where some guy bought 8 packs of Shreddies using the £1 off Nestl! cereals coupon 8 times for pence, and a voucher for 10p off a litre of petrol. This is the kind of trick I want to achieve. My wife may disown me but I love a deal like this :D
  • In mr A yesterday, i bought chocolate cheerios, free with coupon, they also had bitesize shreddies for £1 so free with voucher.

    hi josh

i use all the supermarkets near me not just tesco. i go whereever the best offers are or where i've coupons for.
my asda & tesco are very good taking coupons but i've have made the time to build up a good rapport with SAs & supervisors.

i wouldn't set your heart on matching or aiming for what they manage in the usa. its not manageable that easily here.
i read to that it was over hyped for the tv show too.

coupons are best used when items are on offer( example if item BOGOF use 2 coupons) so don't just use coupon because you have them unless its an item you need or dates short, pays to hang on sometime and items very often go on offer.
save pdf coupon in a file on your pc and links often break or finish early.

as to percentage no idea, not brainy enough to work that out

last 3 big shops for reduction
minus offers, coupon, APG vouchers & conditional spend coupons

    1. £77.89 paid £39.52
    2. £82.94 paid £55.50 but had a refund of £44.89 so actually paid £10.61 in the end
    3. £22.00 paid £7.48

but don't manage that very often

that is brilliant success :) thanks for posting

I know what you mean about the USA program don't worry I've dipped my toe in the couponing world in the past so I'm not trying it out hoping to get as much of a discount as 90% plus!

I agree with you that it'd be stupid to buy stuff just because there are coupons for it. I think my strategy is to write out my rough weekly shop, and go through your post on the updated thread 27, and see what items on my list there are coupons for, then print double of each item (or more if possible) before I visit, and then when I'm in the store, if I see BOGOF or something similar, I Can take advantage.

would you mind talking us through what sort of coupons you used please? Only high level like.

also which post do you mean by "shopping list" please?

ok i can do a list if you want?

    always towels 6 x £1 moc £1 x 6 from supersavvyme
    ski mousse 4 x£1 moc 0.50p x 4 from facebook
    ski yogurt 2 x 0.75p ski moc 2 x 0.50p from facebook
    Nutrigrain 2 x £2.19 no coupon but B1G1F

    tampax x 6 @ £3.50for 2 6 £1 moc from supersavvyme

cushelle toilet paper £8.50 x 1 40p moc from tesco free mag
typhoo teabags 2 x £1.99 no moc BUT this is part of the petrol offer to receive a moc for 10p off petrol
Pork medalions 2 for £6 no moc but £2.98 saving
various beer x 4 for £6 no moc but £1.96 saving (and happy hubby)
coke 8 cans B1g1F no moc but £3.85 saving
Whiskas 1 x £13 box again part of the tesco petrol offer for moc for petrol
i also bought some party mix, jar of sauce, can cream &a light bulb (hubby sneaked them in trolley when i wasnt looking)

The items for stockpiling were the ladies prioducts, mens products, crisp, coke, iams, shampoo. The others are just part of my normal shop.
My coupons all came from the coupon thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3840565
my shopping list was with the help of MT and avid shoppers who help herhttp://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=49784777&postcount=4
My other coupons were from the Tesco free mag they give out... my hubby got me 10 every day on his way to work BUT 50 was his limit and only if the boxes were full as he hates me being selfish and hoarding LOL
a £5 clubcard bonus was changed for £10 for catfood
we had a £12 off £80 shop given at the till from our previous shop

My strategy since i started last Aug'11 is invest to save, build a stockpile, dont get carried away and use the moc for the sake of it.. if the family can use it and i couldnt get it cheaper by switching brands then i buy it. We have completely changed the way we shop thanks to the forum... my hubby was at Asda nearly every day buying 2 - 3 bags of shopping .. my bill was coming in at roughly £200 per week! then takeaways too. So we now shop by product on offer and mocs. We do the maths and list together. I have a small binder .. the one u can get for 49p in Sainsbury's that holds their recipe cards, i then have 50 plastic wallets in it.. use normal ones and cut to size then heatseal by pressing with an iron down the open side, under a towel or paper. I check each coupon every Sunday against the list on the forum and then go through offers available at which shops. I then calculate savings and sell by dates etc and what we have in at the moment.
Paul will be in soon so i will post a photo of the receipt and my stockpile, although it is in 4 places!

We also use Approved Food website for stockpile items like Nuts and flavoured water.. i tend to order in bulk though ie 120 bottles at a time, 50 bags of each types of the brand of nuts i buy. Our normal shop now just consists of Organic Meat, fresh fruit and veg, fresh milk/dairy & beer for hubby

Hope this helps.. the receipt may explain it better though! so will post in an hour

    regards cathx

I use both Asda and Tesco every week, it depends who has the best offer but one thing i do now check is the Asda 2 for 1 offers against Morrisons for instance. This week PG Tips are £5 + in both tesco and asda but they are £2.98 in Morrisons.. so i bought 10 packs from Asda together with 7 other comparison items... i got the difference back and 10% by using their price check , but i also paid for the items using APGs i have saved.

My best saving was in Tesco though because i 'won' £180 of £1 off various products in tescos by leaving tips on the Supersavvy mission control.. there were 55 stickers i collected and some gave moc, i was lucky enough to do it the first night it lauched and i spent 3 hours filling everything in. I then went to my laptop and logged in via my Mums facebook page and did the same (different tips tho) .. i managed to print 2 of each coupon and then went to Tescos the next day and spent ALL of them in one go. I bought 46 FREE Fairy liquids as it was £1 at the time and my 46 moc were all £1, i also bought 34 Lenors at they were £1.02 at the time and my moc was £1, 16 Always packs, 16 Tampax packs, the same day i bought a 8.99 surf bottle reduced to £5.49.. Tesco had their price drop leaflet to get a £1 off the surf... it went through the till as a glitch though at £2.38 per bottle.. so i went back and bought everything on the shelf.. and helped another lady do the same.. we split the haul between us.

In total i paid about £20 but had to get my Mum to come and fill her car as my Mondeo was full! The cashier did query my coupons but the mgr was happy with everyone of them... although he did say it wasnt fair that so many of my products were working out free as that wasnt why Tescos offered their promotions LOL

My results have been really good and i am proud of them BUT i have only achieved it by reading back through the coupon forum and checking in every day on the forum... i lurk alot. Looking for coupons myself and getting better doing the Maths! Your wife wont laugh when she sees the results and you have more funds for other stuff ... like her! My hubby was very sceptical at first but now he actually wombles receipts and is so chuffed when he finds me one. He will also now go to the supermarket himself and coupon!

    1 check the forum daily
    2.check mysupermarket
    3.check the supermarkets own sites
4.sign up for lots of newsletters and set up a new email address and facebook to deal with it.
5.print from several printers and Pcs if you can.
6.still sign up for 'clubs' you dont think you would like.. ie Love L'oreal.. you may think its just girls cosmetics but the MOCs are also for mens stuff, soaps, shower gels, deoderants etc.
7.Facebook coupons are great for free offers but they go quick
8.check Approved Food every day as their best offers go quick & calculate the P&P into your maths.
9.Try to save coupons for when offers are around but remember to use them before their use by date.
    10. If you get a product for free but you cant use it, pass it onto a charity or save for your works Xmas charity hamper if you have one.
    11. If you are really serious couponer.. some use the letters to manufacturers forum and they share which are the best to email compliments and complaints to.
    12.Get wombling

    Hi
This is a shop I did on Monday combining it with JTD. JTD is where MrT price match MrA and MrS.

Anchor cream £1.25, 50p voucher and £1 at MrA
Mcvities Jaffa cake bars, free use voucher and £1.30 at MrT but only £1.05 at MrA
Greens pie filling, 50p, 40p coupon and only 35p at MrA
Herbal essence shampoo 200ml x2 different types. £2.25 but £1 vouchers and £1 at MrA
Lenor softners x2, down to £1.50 with a £1.00 voucher and just £1.00 at Mr A.
Airwick airfreshner natural sweet pea, £1.22, £1 voucher, £1 at MrA .

So total cost was £11.77 minus the vouchers left it at £4.57. JTD refund of £4.37. Total shop price 20p. :D

You need to read up on JTD as there are pitfalls to it if you don't read properly. The 8 unique items catch people out sometimes and putting through things that are cheaper at MrT is another common error.

I hope that helps you. :)
