  • I bought a Sony TV 3D from BUYITPLAYIT.eu. I paid them £1512 Ukash vouchers. I was told I will receive the TV by DHL on 07/10. They e-mailed me a day before to ask for a copy of my passport, 2 utility bills and a photograph. Clearly they want to scam more by stealing my identity. Now Ukash vouchers carry a 19 digit code. Are they not traceable by Ukash? at least where they are used and recover the money? If not, means Ukach is encouraging such operations. I personally have never used PP or Ukash before. It seems to me that the use of these vouchers is opening a door for criminals to operate. Thanks

Mahir - that is a huge amount of money, thought mine was bad enough. Contact UKash, they will ask you to report it to Action Fraud (Google them for number) - they will give you a crime ref number, which you will then give to Ukash, they will ask you for all the details of the transaction or a copy of your voucher. Then it's just waiting to see if you can get your money back.

I had never used Ukash either, didn't even know it existed, but I have to say the folk at Action Fraud were extremely helpful and Buyitplayit is 'very' known to them. Let's hope something may be done - although if I'm honest I think this type of fraud usually gets away with it. Stealing from hard working folk by offering items we save up for is despicable.

    Good luck anyway.
  • I was scammed too. £200 for a decent spec laptop for an Xmas prezzie. Shoulda known better but I've never heard of Ukash nor their procedures or dangers. If you check the Ukash website their is a warning on their hOmepage about buyitplayit, but there was no warning at the till.

I have contacted Ukash who replied after 6 days to say sorry the money cannot be refunded. I also contacted action fraud and got a CRN so don't build your hopes up for a refund! Sorry folks.

I believe that UKASH security checks are poor or non-existent and will be writing to paypoint to recommend they review their association or at least suspend the services until the matter is investigated. I have advised UKASH of this.

What bothers me most is the buyitplayit emails asking for passports bank statements etc. That is clearly an effort for identity fraud which is a serious criminal offence(DO NOT SEND ANY DOCUMENTS)

The Ukash team seem ok and I'm sure they do not condone this behaviour but I think they need to review their processes.

    Hi all,

I think I've found another supplier running with a similar scam. I found this one while looking for some PC components and they came up as the "cheapest" option in Google Shopping - to such an extent the prices just seemed too good to be true.

I can't post a link apparently, so it's http colon slash slash bhsdirect dot net to avoid (no www). It's certainly no affiliation with the department store!

Like the above, they have addresses linked to Canada, Cyprus and Northern Ireland, accept only obscure payment schemes, and give a very tall story of an excuse in their terms & conditions to explain how they are a "FREE TAX CORPORATION (offshore)" whatever that means.

Confidence tricksters the lot of them. I've reported this one to actionfraud and to trading standards, and can only encourage you all to do the same before someone else is caught out by the scam.

    Be vigilant people!

Thanks for that Binraider and yes it's the same bunch of crooks.

Firefox is now showing the website as 'Server not Found so, hopefully, it's been shut down.
  • Sadly they've just re-opened as oneclickmultimedia dot net

Those prices looked a bit suss to me so I went through the process until I got to the "confirm" page where I noticed they'd got me down as paying by UK eVoucher.
So. One quick search to find out what a UK eVoucher was and I ended up here.

Thanks guys for saving me some money.
Hopefully by posting this I can save someone else from falling for it.
  • Afternoon - I got hooked by One Click lasrt night and followed the order process to the point where they emailed me how to pay - I got a UKash voucher and went to pay it. Thankfully they said I couldn't use a card and that made me think.

Searched UKash's website and couldn't find One Click and eventually ended up here. 42" HD LG TV - £549 at Tesco's being sold for £192 plus delivery. Phew - relief. £200 still in my pocket.

Thank you to all of you for your full comments - all the same as I got.
  • I was going to buy some appliances from oneclickmultimedia.com.
They're very cheap, but only accept ukash vouchers.

Having read this thread I'm staying well clear!
  • I MSE shop bot to search for a Samsung TV and it came up with premshop.com and dojoboutique.net as the cheapest suppliers.

The premshop.com are in Malaysia and won't respond to emails and tried telephoning line unavailable.

The dojoboutique.net have the same 'MO' as the posts above. They gave a standard response email but when pushed for further info it's all gone quiet! Looks like another reincarnation.

One thing spotted is that pricerunner, google search or shops, etc don't find these URL's with their search engines!

Heed an old saying "buyer beware!"
