I am currently in my 9th month of a 24 month contract with o2. I want to upgrade to the new iphone 5 when it is released however i have just spoken to o2 who told me its going to be £160 to get out of my contract and into a new one.
Has anyone had any dealings with this? TBH i thought it was ridiculous to charge so much money when i actually want to increase my monthly contract from £15 to £30 although i know that once you are in a contract they can do what they like.
Any thoughts?

Just sell the iPhone 4 and buy an iPhone 5, then use the iPhone 5 with the current sim. No need to involve O2 at all.kimberleyanddarren wrote: »Any thoughts?0 -
My thoughts are that £160 is a generous offer because normally you are supposed to pay £15*(24-9)=£225. Probably this is because your new contract will be 24+24-9=39:eek: months, not 24.kimberleyanddarren wrote: »TBH i thought it was ridiculous to charge so much money when i actually want to increase my monthly contract from £15 to £30...

Who'd have though they wouldnt just let you upgrade whenever you feel like it, these mobile companies are just out to rip you off.
iPhone 5 for £30 a month? Thats the height of optimism right there0 -

As everyone above is telling you , this is a generous offer, all you need to do is pay the £160 for the upgrade and sell the old phone for at least £160......sorted.
To be honest I think you are very naive or are one of the growing numbers of people who want or expect the 'moon on a stick' !!TBH i thought it was ridiculous to charge so much money when i actually want to increase my monthly contract from £15 to £30 although i know that once you are in a contract they can do what they like.
At £30/month the contract is only worth around £720 so taking that the iphone 5 will probably cost (retail) over £600
you are being unfair to call this offer ridiculous.
What you are basically suggesting is that for paying £15 x 9 months = £135 + £30 x 24 months = £720, making a total of £855 you are expecting 33 months of using your tariff ( calls/texts/data ) plus the cost of your original phone plus the cost of the new iphone 5.iPhone 5 for £30 a month? Thats the height of optimism right there
Or is this just one big wind up ?0
