Sky with no landline question

Will sky still connect you up if you don't have a working landline at the property' I really want sky but don't want to reconnect my old landline
I understand they used to charge £25 if you don't have a landline is this still the case.

Yes, you can buy out the landline requirement for about £25 at sign up.
But the requirement is rarely enforced anyway (unless you have Multiroom, in which case it most certainly is).
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Many thanks for taking the time to reply your info is appreciated
  • Look in your local town or shopping centre for a sky rep who will usually allow this to be waived when you sign up with them as its now something that is rarely enforced by sky unless your multiroom.
  • i signed up online and ticked the box saying my line was getting installed at a later date. That was over a year and a half ago and still dont have one lol. Didnt pay any waiver either.

Folk keep on saying that sky enforce the phone line rule when relating to multi room.

I have had multi room for an age, many years, it has never been connected and I have never received a warning letter or phone call
    from Sky.

They DO enforce it,but considering the amount of subscribers they have in the UK & Ireland,to do so is,imho, impractical & not cost affective as I believe the software/processes they use are ineffective to fully go after everyone who's box isn't connected.I also believe it too much hassle for them as well....

I myself received the letter from Sky,turned out it was a faulty modem in my second buy,and I'd say over half the service calls I got when I worked for Sky were to do with multi-room call backs.
  • Although some multiroom boxes do slip through the net a vast majority do not due to Sky policing this aspect to stop fraudulent use of multiroom cards at different addresses. I personally have experienced both sides of this in having inadvertently not reconnected a phone line to a box that I had moved and this lasted for six months before I noticed and reconnected. A subsequent replacement of the same box a few months later and bad phone connection resulted in warning letters a couple of months later. So please do not advise people that they will get away with it when there is a very good chance that they will not.

Sorry Dave,I wasn't telling people that they'll get away with it,I was simply offering an explanation as to why & how they have slipped thru the cracks & not yet been caught as yet.
  • Hello there I am very new to this( like today). Can anyone help. I wish to sign up to sky via cashback site but when you get to site, You need to put in landline number which I do not have. I understand you can pay £25 which is fine but can I get away with an old number so I can get cash back? I hope this makes sense. Many thanks in advance.
