depends on the terms and conditions of the sale...was it delivered on a weekday? was the weekend where you checked it and reported it the first weekend after the delivery if it was delivered on a weekday?

If you can justify the delay aside from the weather then you could be okay...

Reasonable is very ambiguous, you wouldn't really know for sure what is reasonable unless it went infront of a judge who would decide.

Personally I would consider anything upto 7 days reasonable to inspect garden furniture. The company obviously think 12 days isn't and have deemed you to have accepted the furniture and its condition.

Send a letter to them outlining the facts and asking for their final position on the matter. Also mention your preferred resolution in the letter and see how they respond.

I think it could be argued that as the weather has been unsuitable to have the furniture in the garden, that it is reasonable to wait until a more suitable opportunity.

But you don't need to take the furniture outside to inspect it.

Otherwise op could contact them in say 8 months when the weather is nicer and argue the weather has been unsuitable for outdoor use.

Its a large set, the table is bigger than the freespace I have in any of my rooms so I can't see how I could set it up, even the table on its own without taking it outside.

I obvioulsy wouldn't have left it 8 months, one way or another it would of got checked this weekend. If the weather wasn't nice I would of had to try and find somebody with a van to take it to a friends that did have room inside but I wanted to avoid that, hence not checking it last weekend. I don't think that is particularly unreasonable.

But it's outdoor furniture, I haven't yet seen outdoor garden furniture that you can't take outdoors in inclement weather, except for the cushions.

I don't think they'd sell much in this country if it had to be bought indoors everytime it rained.

Nobody is suggesting it can't be outside in the rain, it's more a case of can it be inspected properly in pouring rain/windy condtions.
