Loving the cakes! Half of our cupcakes were lemon and half chocolate but the icing was the same so everyone got a surprise! They all got eaten though! Our little cake on top was a fruit cake that MIL made and is in the freezer ready for the birth of the first child....so come on first child - be born so we can eat some cake!!!0

We had our top tier as the cake at DS1's christening. My DH's sister made our wedding cake and we asked her just to re-ice it for the christening as icing doesn't keep very well. She re-iced it alright but ON TOP of the wedding icing! So we had over an inch thick icing to munch through! She died 2 years ago suddenly so I shouldn't speak ill of her should IThank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0

Double layer icing would be my DH's idea of heaven, especially if there was extra marzipan in between! He would think she was a genius!0

We've kept our top tier of wedding cake for our first child's christening too - looking forward to decorating it though it'll probably be spring before we have Giblet's christening.

We managed-somehow- to overorder on our cupcakes. They worked out very cheap, our wedding was in a country house owned by my Dad's friends, and the cakemaker lived at the bottom of the lane, practically, and was very easy to pay. I'd ordered 200 cupcakes, amended to 50 odd-more, and at the same time, my mum called and ordered another 200! On top of that, we had a 3 tier cake for the evening which was just sponge and cream which was yellow and covered in teddies (I can't remember why, not important really!)....
They were plain lemon sponge, raspberry ripple and chocolate. It was 0230hrs before I got to taste my own, as every time I went to eat one, someone would start talking to me!
Cool cake as well, mirrorimage!0 -
